    Re: Toronto area...

I've lucked out on the last two times at Blue (well the other time was last season during that one last big snow storm). Conditions were pretty good on Sunday, good snow, and probably just one patch of ice.

Roads on the way back weren't great. Doing 90km and spinning all four tires on black ice got the heart going.

LOL so I brought along my GlobalSat Data Logger which I use for tracking my hikes... thought it would be interesting to see what would show on one of the runs at Blue.

    that was cool

you should post a bigger version of that pic though...kind of hard to see

I've always wondered what peak speed is for regular joes on the hill. Pretty fast still...imagine jumping out of your car while speeding in a school zone.

I think the regular joes are probably in the 20-25 km/h range. You'll get the odd person going straight down, and pretty sure they'll hit 60 km/h easily. Seems that doing 60 km/h doesn't fell all that fast in your car but when you're strapped to a board or a pair of skis, it's definitely fast! Throw in a few bumps along the way for a bit of air... yeah plenty quick!

That's pretty cool Mike, would be interesting to do that for one of my days on the hill.

    Re: Toronto area...

I think there's good value for this especially with racers. Find out what corners you're losing time, where things are improving, etc. Not sure how they do it now, other than timers are certain spots down the run. If the logging could be done at a higher frequency versus one second would be sweet. I'd love to see the details (or chaos) in my carves!

I know my next goal is to crack 60 km/h :)

that's amazing technology. Imagine showing that to your grandparents? Phones probably were 'new' when they were being born. Cars too.

You're right Mike, that would be pretty handy for racers. Right now its all done on intervals, so you know the area but it can be a rather large section or number of gates.
