Has anybody taken out the skid plate underneath the car, right behind the bottom of the front bumper? Yesturday i had a unlucky event happen. After being on coils for a week i went over one of those little plastic speedbumps and on the speedbump the screw wasnt all the way in and it caught the bottom of the skid pad and ripped it and one bit of it is hanging now. The places which hold in the screws are ripped I dont know what to do. any suggestions?

    Re: HELP

Like an idiot, i took my bumper off one day and forgot about that stupid thing and broke all of the little plastic screw things. It is really important to have on your car so shit doesnt bounce up into your engine compartment. I would suggest drilling tiny little holes where it should go and use some twisty ties. Fortunately, i didnt rip any of the holes apart, and i just used twisty ties haha

Yeah i was thinking about the twisty tie method. but do you have any idea how much a new one would be from audi? or is there a metal one out there? because my car before had a metal guard.

    Re: HELP

i think its called belly pan, it helps protect water, rocks, etc to go into the engine bay. Is it needed? well 50/50, on my old b5, I was slammed and had no belly pan and never had a problem with water going into the engine bay. Is it a good idea, sure, can help take some of the damage from the oil pan, etc.

I know they did make a metal one for the b5 A4, not sure how current the metal ones would be. My opinion on the metal ones, was in an big impact the metal piece could cause more harm than good, causing the metal to maybe pierce a line or something.

I would figure the cost to replace would be 100 max.

    Good luck

    Re: HELP

the belly pan is super easy to take out. get a flat head screw driver and just turn the screws half a turn and they come out. there are six along the front, 3 on the back and one on each side, there is also one inside each fender well. people come to the dealer i work at all the time with the belly pans ripped up. they cost a lil' more that 100 bucks though, if i remeber right they are about 275. you shouldn't have a problem with anything if you just zip-tie it up. PM if you need help.
