Oil dump in exaust system??

I have an Audi A6 2.7 Turbo. The other day there was a bunch of oil being dumped into the exaust, I took it into the corner mechanic and they thawed out the engine, and blamed it on something freezing up in there, and no air was getting to the engine, so the engine sucked the oil right out. Has anyone else heard of this?

Also does anyone know if the Turbo bypass valves fail would this oil dumping be a possible result?
