    DTM bumper

    Hey guys,
I know that there are a lot of threads about the DTM bumper and I have all the part #s etc I need but my shop keeps telling me I need a bunch of brackets or mounting pieces and says that a retrofit w/ out the CF lip is $995. My question is, since I'm already non-sline, all I need is the cover, the four lower grill pieces, and the tow/washer covers correct? I'm just looking for a confirmation from those that already have one because I'm really sick of dealing w/ my shop/local dealerships bsing me and I want it done soon. Also same reflectors fit in? Thanks guys
    Pete

    Re: DTM bumper

995? painted? lol thats alot of money. since u have a nonsline im guessing it doesnt come with washers so wat you will need to do is just mold in the washers to the bumper so its just smooth. and tow hook you will need to buy that separately. and the grills you need to buy as well as the bumper and u can use the old reflectors from the nonsline bumper and put it on the DTM bumper thats wat i did. besides that u dont really need anything else.

    8E0-807-077-B Trim - $36.12

It is a like-for-like swap with your stock bumper from a mounting standpoint. I pulled the old bumper off and put the DTM bumper on myself.

    Re: DTM bumper

KMHPaladin if you mounted it yourself i take it you didn't have it blended in when you put it on? I was trying to decide whether or not it would be necessary to do esp on silver.

    Re: DTM bumper

No, I had it painted to a paint code by a local shop (Spies Hecker paint). I'm happy with the paint match on the passenger side and hood, the driver side is not as good because someone must've repainted the OEM bumper and blended it into the driver side fender (the paint also chips a lot easier there). One of these days I'm going to figure out how to remove the fender and have it resprayed proper Quartz Gray.

i think your shop is trying to rip you off, it should be a direct bolt on with a non-sline plus the grills and what not needed.

    Re: DTM bumper

TDI go on the S4 forum and ask one of the DTM NOT 25TH ANIV. guys for their VIN number because that will help your dealer pull up what was on the car aka the rear bumper part #...you could probably find it on here i know its been discussed but that may be your best bet. And yeah guys it more of the dealership than my shop trying to rip me off. I'm going to go Sline next week cause I really honestly dont like the rear DTM bumper.

nah they are not trying to rip you off..my bodyshop said the same thing (they are family friends). when you call the dealer, the easiest way for them to get you all the parts is for you to buy the retrofit kit, but that also includes fogs and some other things i think. nsmith's list should suffice with everything you need. i just recently did this conversion..

    Re: DTM bumper

    1) there are no fogs.
    2) no 'retrofit kit' or bracket is necessary. Order 1 bumper cover, 2 washer covers, 4 grills (part numbers are easily available), and optionally 1 CF spoiler+nuts/bolts and apply like you're R&Ring the bumper.
    3) thinking about it more, $995 is not a bad price. Considering parts, paint, and installation at one body shop, that's not unreasonable. If you want to do it cheaper, buy the parts from the dealer, get it painted, and install yourself.

But the problem is that his $995 quote is before paint.
