Kinda Urgent. Coolant reservoir almost empty .......

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
And I'm 300miles away from home, and no dealerships are still open to source G12 from

Will it be safe to just add enough distilled water in the reservoir just to be safe until I get back home tomorrow and top off with G12? I'm in South Jersey today (Toms River) and will take the trek back home tomorrow.

    Thanks in advance

It's really cold weather around here as of late and you're heading into even colder weather. If you need a lot of coolant, I wouldn't fill up with water. It will be fine when you're running it but if you let it sit overnight in this weather it's going to freeze and you have to get it out of there ASAP if it's going to be mostly water. What I mean to say is if you are running on mostly water you have to come up with another option or promise to drain it before it has a chance to freeze.

Does anyone think he is better off adding Prestone Extended Life instead of water until he can pick up the G12 and replace?

12/23/09 - My car has been phenomenal to me. Runs strong. Don't think I'm ever going to sell it. Rather throw $7k into it for a refresh than buy a new A4 that has no dipstick.
    12/5/10 - 100k miles & counting!
    9/22/13 - 146k+ & running strong w/a new TB, water pump, etc.
