2002 audi a4 quattro cables froze up dealer said i need to buy 2 of them as there is one for each side? is this true. ive been having the same problem as many of u and have just been not using my ebrake since it gets hung up and sometimes i get the break buring smell out back. i like to be able to use my ebrake but would the problem fix itself once the warm weather rolls around?

Yeah, there are two cables. I had both of them pop off twice about a month ago. I just quit using the ebrake when it's cold outside. It's not worth the hassle. You should be able to use it without any problems once it gets warmer outside.

being soft would mean the rear brake is still engagded. Not sure if you know how to disengadge manually, but it can be dont with a stick threw the rear rim.
