Are you sure the gap between the reluctor ring and the sensor is right? Also, is there any debris on the sensor? Have you checked the wiring from the sensor back.....all the way? Maybe the wire could be kinked inside the wire insulator.

The reluctor ring can only sit in there one way, it's keyed so there's no wrong way to install it.
The sensor is fine, it's new and I've tried two of them.
The wire from the sensor to the cluster harness is good - as is the ground.
If it were bad, my speedometer would not function - it does. I'm going to try to check the wire from the cluster, to the ECU. From what I've been told, it's on pin #54 and the wire color is blue/lilac. I'm going to trace that back to the cluster and see if it's in tact.
If the wire is good, I'm going to try another ECU. I doubt it's the ECU but at this point - who knows.
The VSS sensor is wired from the trans, to the cluster, from the cluster, to the ECU.
When the block was logged for the speedo it was recording 0.0MPH - and the fault code is in the engine, not cluster.
Tomorrow is another day - which will hopefully be a better one :)
