    valve cover stud...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Well, one of the studs for my valve cover decided to strip out. Not the stud, but that spot that actual goes into the head.. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix/MAKE this work? Basically the stud just spins freely in place and won't screw in regardless of what I do. Every time I pull the stud back out there are some threads that came off from the head and what looks like anti seize on the stud..

Just need an easy solution, if anyone has ne ideas

heli-coil and thread maker tool, avaliable at any auto-parts store, only way to fix it. Could try some jb-weld.. but that'll last about a month or two before it vibrates out of place and then who knows where the little pieces will go.

Re-tap it with a larger size? That's what I would do.

I agree with blmlozz. get the correct heli coil. All you need is a drill pretty much and will be much stronger then originally.

yeah, I managed to find a store who carried the metric helicoil I needed. So that is done with for now. I figured I wouldn't be able to find anything without ordering, which was why I posted for ideas ha.
