I need some advice on these shocks

So I have been thinking about getting suspension for my car within the next month, however I am confused on whether to go with coilovers or a spring/shock kit.
I really am just looking for a mild suspension and more for a sporty look and of course improved handling, please note that I work in downtown La and the pot holes out here can almost swallow a car whole, I'm also trying to stay within a budget and not over $800.00.

I've been doing some research and I came across this h&r touring suspension kit.
It meets all of my criteria and I think this deal is amazing. What do you guys think? Thanks-Rob

I personally go with coilovers, you can go up and down as you fancy and they give the car a sharp sporty feel.
    -Unitronics Stage 2+ ECU/TCU tune.
    -EI AL CAI.
    -Driver Mod.

that spring/shock combo is perfect for you. coilovers are really only necessary if your tracking your car or constantly changing your height. from what you said is that you just want it for the looks and the handling upgrade so a spring/shock combo is perfect for you and well within youe price budget.

h&r are some of the most popular springs used so that kit you linked to is perfect for you. i didnt click the link so i dono the price but also check otu www.tirerack.com as they have a good price on that kit also. i think like $650.

also with your budget in mind remember that you will have to pay for installation maybe around $200 more or less. and an alignment as well afterwards.

Re: I need some advice on these shocks

I think my advice would be that, in downtown LA, you might be better off with a beater car first of all. If that's not going to happen, you might consider that one of the reasons that Audi sets the stock ride height where it is, is because of streets like L.A.'s. You might want to leave it right where it is.

You absolutely do not need coilovers unless you have obsessive compulsive disorder about your ride height, even if it's not the optimal ride height for the car, you never track it, and you just care about the looks. Not that that ever happens around this site, no...

From what I've seen, the H&R kit is pretty low. You might want to search around other users here. We got the Koni FSD / Eibach Pro-kit from shox.com, and I think this is about perfect for a mix of conditions with a slightly lower than S-line ride height. However, even with this ride height, we do have to be a bit careful and will scrape some high angle driveways and "slow down" humps, especially if we're not deliberately driving protectively. I can't imagine being any lower out in the real world.

Best of luck, you're right that this is something to think about carefully.

Hey Rob - I think for a budget, this would be the best thing for you. The thing that i have found on the forums with Shocks is that they pretty much make your car look like a stock s-line suspension (maybe a tad lower). You can definitely achieve a more aggressive look with coilovers. I drove a car with Stasis SS coils on it and it was amazing. The handling was noticeably improved by a big margin.

If you decide that you may want a more aggressive look and may be willing to spend 149 dollars over your budget, check these guys out:

I have the Eibach prokit springs and shocks / struts with ECS spacers. I am 25" ground to top of fender all around. I rub with more than 50 pounds in the trunk. I love the look but have to be careful. I have heard that H&R are lower but do not have first hand knowledge of this.
