I was wondering if my tires are going to be rubbing this part of the suspension after I lower it? Thanks for the help in advance.....

Re: Quick question before I drop my A4.......

depends on your tire width, wheel offset, etc.

if youre running anything wider than a 235 tire i would say probably yes.

Re: Quick question before I drop my A4.......

So the current tire sidewall I have on shouldn't hit the suspension link in the picture after I lower it?

Re: Quick question before I drop my A4.......

what offset are the wheels? I come pretty close to rubbing there and your tires will be .25" closer to that than mine height-wise... but since you're skinnier it might save you depending on the offset.

    I have VMR VB3's: 18x8.5 40mm offset

When I first got them they had 255 width tires on them and I rubbed on that control arm, but I switch those out for some 225 width tires and no rubbing!

i say go with a set of 225/45/17s on those wheels and you'll be able to put it as low as you want

Re: Quick question before I drop my A4.......

Correct me if Im wrong, but the piece your talking about is the upright, meaning that the distance from the tire to it wont change, they will remain the same distance no matter how low you go. Putting on fatter tire will make you hit the upright no matter how high or low you have the car sitting however.

Re: Quick question before I drop my A4.......

That's not the upright, that is the front upper control arm. If he lowers it, the arm will flex downard, and leave less space for the tire. I have seen this wear down my friends tire to the metal more than one time since he was running 235's.

Re: Quick question before I drop my A4.......

^^ correct, this is the rear not the front, and like i said, lowering wont bring the tire any closer

Re: Quick question before I drop my A4.......

no, but the new rim width/offset and tire width will. If he is staying with the same wheels it won't matter.

Re: Quick question before I drop my A4.......

Well there is no rubbing with that arm. But there is rubbing when turning, I underestimated how much the drop would be so I have to re-adjust the height when I get home.

Re: Quick question before I drop my A4.......

I adjusted it 3 times last night (I have the flu so not fun). And it it really seemed not to raise that much, so I just left it. And it didn't rub while turning the tires at a stand still. But turning into work today its shredded a little piece. But overall the ride is smooth and installation was a breeze. But I will definitely raise the height.
