    piggies vs brand name dp's

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So if I do piggies on my stock dp's what kind of power gain am I looking at compared to apr or labree dp's? Yes,I know there is no comparison in price but I just want to know how the power gains stand up against eachother. I've been told piggies will give you about 10-12 whp vs apr dp's about 16-20whp? Any input anyone?

Re: piggies vs brand name dp's

I believe piggies are the best bang for the buck. I couldnt justify paying 1500 for awe downpipes when you can get the ssac full turbo back exhaust for 350 plus shipping. Plus i just past ca smog with the piggie downpipes so if you have been thinking about doing it go for it theres a good diy on audiworld.

The way i see it your flow is only as good as your narrowest point so if you plan on keeping stock exhaust there woulnt really be a difference in apr and piggie.

The thing im wondering about is how well the 400 cat flows from VAST piggies over the stock 1000 cat.

If you have the money to blow on nothing else, then get AWE/ASP. Otherwise piggies are more then suffice.

    Yeah.
The reason I was asking is because I am running open dp's right now, no cat back.

I need to buy new downpipes because mine are egged from falling twice while driving, yes I know, a big stupidity on my part, so I'm contemplating on buying used dp's, making them piggies and then doing a custom cat-back at a local shop, or wait the 30-45 days until SSAC gets their turbo backs in stock again.

Does anyone have any way to contact them regarding the status of this product?

Smog test are required every 2 years in California(unless your vehicle is less than 5 years old) which also includes a visual inspection. That was my main reason for going the Piggie route plus it's 90% as effective as aftermarket dps. I passed smog with flying colors running a UUC exhaust, Piggies and APR Stg2+ chip.

i took my piggies and cut them at the first cat, then mached up 2.5" pipe, took it to a shop and got them welded up with secondary cat deletes for $250 including the cost of pipeing. pretty good deal for custom dp's

I have always been under the impression that loud pipes save lives so I went with these, or as I like to call them up yours mother earth pipes, who needs cats?

Question- I'm bout to order bung holes for the rear o2's. Do you think I really need them, or will the computer go crazy if I dont have them plugged in?

You'll be alright, I have AWE downpipes and and just bolted up the test pipes. I unplugged the rear o2 sensor and took them out of the car. So far so good. As long as you can live with a check engine light, you will be fine...

That's good to hear. It looks like a quality product and it's hard to find dp's for a tip. How was the install?

Re: piggies vs brand name dp's

Yes the car feels faster, but then again your losing almost the entire weight of the exhaust system. The car feels very strong, but its hard to tell how much with out logging it and i never got around to it before the turbo went on my car. Another thing to is that the car is so much louder that it feels faster, I know that sounds dumb, but its just hard to tell. This setup is probably too loud for most people.

If you really want a video clip of how it sounds i can get you one? My brother runs the same setup.

    I believe its 2.25.

I just took the dp's out and scribed, chopped, and gutted them, and then took them to a local guy and he wielded it up for like 20 bucks. Only thing you got to make sure is you scribe really well show he know how to re clock them.

lol..install was the toughest thing i've ever done. def recommend professionals unless you have all the tools and time. getting the stock downpipes out is very tricky with a tip. you have to drop the sub-frame a bit to make enough room to get them out.
