    rear brakes diy?

I've searched on here, AW, and audidiy for a writeup on the rear brakes but I can't find anything. I've found numerous ones on the front brakes, so my question is if the rear brakes are, for the most part, similar to replace as the fronts. I say brakes being pads and rotors.

I'm decently mechanical....should I be able to figure out the rear brakes with the diy for the front brakes?

For the pads, you're probably gonna want the caliper tool to compress the piston for the rears. You can do it without it but it's much easier with it.

You could just use a pair of needle nose pliers and push as you turn to depress the calipers. Just put the tips of the pliers in the grooves.

    Re: rear brakes diy?

I followed this for the rear brake pads and was very helpful. Only thing is when i took the ebrake off the car rolled forward and off that crappy stock jack and landed on the rotor. Thank god I wasnt under the car. Rookie mistake i guess. Put something in front and back of the front wheels.

next time, leave the car in gear. This will limit the car from rolling.
also, i would probably have left the e-brake off while doing rear pads and/or rotors.
and yes, most definitely chock the F & R wheels.
sounds like you got it done ok though...
