My new B7 has a touchier clutch than most cars that I am used to. It seems to require more feathering, since you almost have to launch the car by clutch position rather than feel.
My question is, is it better for the car and the clutch to feather it and take off very gently, or rev the engine to 2.5-3k and then "dump" it more quickly, feeding more gas. Note that by launch I mean pull away from a stop, not drag race.
Both methods can give a smooth takeoff, although the dump method is quicker. Is it better for the clutch to have a longer, gentler engagement, or a quick, if a bit more forceful, engagement?
