Air bag light in cold weather?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I noticed my air bag light comes on in cold weather. Once the car warms up it goes away. Has anyone else gotten it? Also, any idea why it may happen and if it signifies anything is wrong with the car? Thanks.

Mine came on the second day of ownership, and has stayed on. It's so frustrating.

Re: Air bag light in cold weather?

I know im from the A4 side but mine has done the same. I was told that there are connectors under each front seat and they can come loose causing the light to come on. Make sure they are seated VERY tight. Should solve the problem. If not it might be the airbag brain module which is a fortune

run vag-com and make sure you didnt get the dreaded airbag control module code.

Its ok if you do get it, you can get your module rebuilt for around $50.

Re: Air bag light in cold weather?

I had the same issue a few weeks ago, it came out to be the airbag controller. It as an easy replacement, only special tools needed were radio keys. I followed this DIY http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec152.shtml.

My symptoms were: airbag light on a cold morning starts, and it goes away once warmed up. Doesn't come back on until the car has been left sitting overnight.

Re: Air bag light in cold weather?

Yes! Mine did the same thing. At first it will go out when the car warms up. Then in a little while it will be on all the time. You need a new airbag controller (the one under the stereo) module! :(

Yeah it sounds like a module or communication issue to the instrument cluster. The lights should stay on once they come on until they are cleared, they shouldnt go away on their own so thats why Id bet one the control module being the issue.

Those rebuild places often dont work very well. They typically just reflash the software and the code will come right back because the software issue was caused by a hardware issue which they dont address. Unless theres a place im missing that does a better job...

    Sorry for the double post.

It says "100% Guaranteed Service or your money back." Sounds good to me. I need my light to go away as well.

Re: Air bag light in cold weather?

Yeah, most back it up. The problem is its been a hassle for most people ive talked to. They send it in, it either comes back with a light or the light comes on again soon after, then the place tells them to send it in to try it one more time (why not do it right the first time, if it happened once itll happen the second time is the way i see it), they send it back, then recieve it, same thing happens and then they get there money back. Its a hassle if your gonna be putting everything back to normal each time, other option is to leave everything torn apart. Its not a bad price if it actually works for you though.

Mine does the exact same thing, when it cold it comes on, but when it warms up it goes out and there dosen't seem to be anything wrong, just dosen't like the cold I guess.

Re: Air bag light in cold weather?

My light was on all the time, VAG says it's the airbag control module. I've sent it to airbag systems twice now with no luck. Anyone have any luck with airbag systems or another company rebuilding it? If you had luck with airbag systems, what did you do, am i missing something? I'm willing to try one more time with another company before buying a new one. Thanks
