Anyone do the Aero wiper upgrade?

Looking at this kit from ECS

    Aero Wiper Kit

Anyone else do this? The standard wipers do a poor job and leave those three contact lines across my windshield. Even on fairly new blades.

    Thoughts?

Re: Anyone do the Aero wiper upgrade?

My standard one was the same. Thus, I upgraded to aero one.
    Now, it works great.
You can buy it on e-bay.

yes, they look better and do a better job in summer but suck in winter time. i guess when the rubber gets hard it doesnt conform as well.... wiper arms are a BITCH to get off, just keep beating them with a hammer

Re: Anyone do the Aero wiper upgrade?

i got those from ECS. my wipers slipped on the motor and were not in the right position so they ended up trying to dive down into the engine bay. i had to take it all apart to get in there and tighten the bolt on top of the wiper motor while trying to keep the wipers in the correct position, it was such a bitch i ended up throwing one of the wipers at the garage door and busted it all up, and that is why i now run aero wipers....... :P

I don't have any problems with them except when it's below freezing and they get iced up, but your going to have that with just about anything.

Re: Anyone do the Aero wiper upgrade?

when you install that, don't beat that too much.
first, just spray the WD-40 as much as you can, and wait (in my case wait 1~2hours).
    and then pull it out.
You can find the thread on the diy forum.

Re: Anyone do the Aero wiper upgrade?

$130 for a set of wipers is a bit excessive. I think just getting a set of Bosch Icons is probably a better option. Plus the Icons will run you around $40 for the set. I had the Bosch Icons on my previous car and loved them, both my brother and girlfriend have the Icons on their cars now as well and are very satisfied.

I live in Canada so it's cold half the year. I never had a real problem with the factory wipers. But I'm curious if there is anything better. Mainly for winter.

Re: Anyone do the Aero wiper upgrade?

turn the wipers up so they aren't against the windshield (this will release the spring tension and allow the wiper to slip straight up from the bolt, other wise the spring puts tension on it at a weird angle and you won't be able to pull it off) use a little force, maybe a small flat tip screwdriver and you'll be all set.

Im 99% sure you cannot fit that Lisle tool onto the driver's side wiper without releasing the hood strut and/or removing the hood. The "junk" tool barely fit and if you leave the nut loosely on the wiper post it works flawlessly, I used it last night with no trouble whatsoever. No it's not the nicest tool or brand in the world but it works, is readily available at any chain auto store and has a Lifetime Warranty. What's not to love?

I've done it and can say it was worth every penny. The standard wipers sucked! Also installing them was a PITA but worth the effort.

I have taken my wipers off a few times I never had a problem ever getting them off.. Never had to use any force at all. I believe widgget is correct on pull the arm up to release the tension.

are you talking about just the blade? we are talking about the arm itself coming off the motor. it uses some kind of tapered rod with splines that help lock it on. sometimes (usually) they are very difficult to get off. you have to bend the arm up otherwise you will crack your windshield trying to pull it off

Would that first Bosch Aero wiper set for $33 attach onto my regular OEM wiper kit or do I need another component for the Aero's to work?

I just upgraded mine today and I think this car is cursed! The driver side wiper doesn't touch for about 5 inches in the middle of the blade, so I now have a nice big section that doesn't get wiped right in front of my eyes...

Other then that, the new Aero wipers are great.

Try swapping the left blade with the right blade.

I always thought they werent worth it but after having mine for a couple weeks now they are awesome, they look better and work better but if you dont want to spend the money from ECS which is still a good deal try car-part.com and look for 05 A4 or a B7 A4 and call around, that is what I did and got mine arms and blades for 50 bucks. most junk yards just see them as another wiper arm so there prices arent high. 24.99 a side, cant beat that
