    18" Ultraleggeras or 18" RS4 reps?!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Poll title says it all. Need to get some wheels for my summer setup. Ultraleggeras or RS4's? If other please list specifics. I'm looking for a somewhat light wheel that is not too flashy. Car will be on a Stasis Streetsport coilover suspension.

    Re: 18" Ultraleggeras or 18" RS4 reps?!

RS4 reps are not light. I haven't weighed them, but I'll put it this way. When I put my 18x8 OZ SLs on, I feel great. When I swap my 18x8.5 VMRs on, my back is sore for a few hours. Maybe I'm getting old, but still, that's my thorough scientific analysis. That said, the RS4s do look better than the ULs, but my car is noticeably faster with the OZs.

I always wondered if the wheel weight would actually make a difference. If that is the case go with the OZs. But if money is an issue, you can always get a set of reps for a decent price. Both are baller.

All good thoughts. I wonder if I can take that stupid OZ Racing centercap off and put an Audi one in its place?

Papa, car looks great. I don't think I'm going to drop my Stasis SS coils that much though. I still have to deal with these New England winters.

Do you like those wheels more than you USP wheels? Are they lighter?

RS4 reps will look better, however the OZs actually are better...stonger lighter wheels.

    Re: 18" Ultraleggeras or 18" RS4 reps?!

I think the RS4's look better than the Ultraleggeras.

However, this winter I switched from OEM 16" 5 spokes to B5 17" S4 Avus rims, the weight increase drasticaly effected my acceleration and fuel economy. Supposedly the RS4 reps weight about 28 pounds each which is exactly what my S4 rims weigh. According to OZ, the ultraleggeras weigh in at only 18 pounds, which is even lighter than my stock 16"s.

nope OEM rs4 18"s.. came off a brand new s4 with 2k miles on it! pure luck coming across them. she was even in my city! she ordered OEM 19"s rs4s in the same color as her car, then it got totalled two weeks after i bought them from her.. now she is getting a new rs4... she went from an a4, s4 now rs4 in like 4 months

kpc.. go for looks bro, your car is never going to be fast enough for rims to make a difference...

I ran 19x8.5 with 32mm offset and i had no issues running 235/40/19 series tires. I was sitting at 24.25 inches all around with that setup. If your running 18's they better be wide and with a decent amount of poke. None of that stuck inside the fenderwall crap

I also ran 18x9 with a 35mm offset all around had no issues, but I wasnt lowered at the time.

If you rub, stretch them tires!!

btw i am having too much fun at work !!

Ok, but 19x8.5 ET 32 doesn't poke as much as 18x9 ET32. Also, the norm on here is to be lowered, so I'd be willing to bet there is zero chance of running 9" wide wheel at ET32 without rubbing in front if lowered at all. Yeah maybe fender rolling and camber adjustments you can get it to fit, but not many people want to go through that trouble.

In my experience, the weight issues is as much personal preference as style. Yes saving several lbs. at each corner is noticeable, but it won't turn your car into a beast.

Yeah, I'm not looking to improve my 1/4 mile time with wheels or anything like that. I just mean I noticed drastic decreases in my fuel economy and acceleration when switching to the heavier wheel, and frankly I'm getting sick of it. I'd like to get some of that back, or even go lighter.

Put it this way, since I have owned the car I've been getting about 430 miles to 15 gallons. Since winter and switching to the heavier rims, I'm lucky to get 315 per 15 gallons.
