    Help with stereo harness

OK so this is a repost from S4 section because I'm not having much luck there.
I know there are some users out there with Pioneer Avic installs so I just need some help with since A4/S4 should be the same.

I need to get a wiring harness to hook up my new Avic F90BT but I can't get a clear answer which one is needed for Symphony non-nav headunit.
Some places and forums suggest Metra 70-1784 and others 70-1787. Even on here there is a thread that mentions which is correct but then I found another thread and other sources where they mention another.
I will be retaining stock amp and speakers so I'd like to find out from someone that have done install themselves and know for sure which one will work.

Also, which trim kit have you used? From what I've found there was not a whole lot of choice and reviews were not so great.

    Thanks

    Re: Help with stereo harness

That's my problem, I can't find for sure which harness I need. I'm finding conflicting information on which one is needed so I thought I would find out from someone that has done install with the same setup.

I think I'll just do the wiring myself.

    Re: Help with stereo harness

Essentially this is what you need to install an aftermarket headunit in a B6/B7 A/S/RS 4.

    - Metra 70-1787 wiring harness (for BOSE and non-BOSE)
    - Metra 99-9102 dash kit
    - Head unit Mounting bracket. (Pioneer ADT-VA133 kit or similar)
    - Metra 40vw53 antenna adapter (if you have an amplified antenna)
    - 4 Audi/VW Stereo removal keys
    - Trim Ring. (Supplied with Head unit or Mounting Kit.)

    Re: Help with stereo harness

I've got one more question. For those using Pioneer ADT-VA133 mounting kit, how is the sleeve attached to the dash? You are supposed to bend the clips so it will clip on but there is nothing there for it to clip on. It's simply held on by how snug it fits in the dash and the rubber slides (or whatever they are called) keep it from moving around.'
SO, how do you properly secure it?

    Re: Help with stereo harness

I think you need a trim kit, I didnt do the install on my F700BT but the company that did do mine used an alpine trim kit, it fits right in the dash kit so the unit sits flush in the mounting kit.

    Hope this helps
