If I were to get APR sw, will my TIP tranny hold up?

If so, how many horror stories about auto trannys failing with the chip?

Also how many horror stories about turbos failing with a chip?

    80k, and still going strong.

It depends how much you beat on it and service it, you should be fine with a stage 1. I'm getting my chip by next month and I'm gonna change my tranny oil right away.

turbos with chip are fine -- just warm up properly (and cool down).
120K and strong (hoping they'll cave in so I can go K04/RS4! but they keep on spinning)

Well the thing is, I put a supercharger on my 3.0tiptronic, and it was slipping right off the bat.

I DEF dont want any slipping going on.

A62Turbo -- you might want to reread his post before you suggest problem with my response -- like perhaps the part where he asked about "stories about turbos failing with a chip"
I didn't comment on tip tranny b/c I don't have one. Call me old fashioned, but I prefer a clutch.

Wheres the fun if I forego the one-upmanship? I like to keep things interesting while being constructive, and yes we can all get along.

been using APR chip for 6+ yrs W/TIP; Consider adding a TIP chip

I have had the APR chip with both 93, and 100 octane programs, ran it for over six years. I do put the car through its paces, but I also take good care of her too. I personally did not have problems with the TIP from the use of the APR chip. If you are worried about slippage from the extra power, I would consider the TIP chip. the module moddification changes the parameters for the actuation of the valve body (kinda acts like the old school transmission shift kit did in years past) It is suppost to firm up the shifts basically appling more pressure faster on gear changes to reduce slippage. The original TIP controller is set for a "comfort" application, which means slower applies of gear changes which in turn allows the clutch pack to slip more during engagement (good for luxo-cruisers, not so good for performance driving) In fact I just bought one for mine (although I am also having a Stage III upgrade done to mine as of this writing) hope to get car back in next few days. Sorry I do not have any "seat" time with this TIP chip yet, but I have heard good things about it, and look forward to putting it to good use.

Re: If I were to get APR sw, will my TIP tranny hold up?

Chip or no chip yuo will hear horror stories on the 2.7T and its turbos failing as well as the A6 TIPtornic issues. The chip adding power and TQ only accentuates the stress on components as commensense would suggest. However, if you take care of yuor car with proper and timely maintenance, proper warm up and cool down, you should be fine.... Again Chip or no Chip there are some that have issues, some early on at 40-60k othgers later and some that'll run 150k miles + just fine...
    Just take care of it

Chip won't make the tranny slip but it will msot likely accentuate or start what is referred to as gear hunting qwith the additional power/TQ. I would suggest recoding yuor TIP to 32 code and gettg a VAST tip chip. I love mine.
    Have a great day, Brice

My stage 3 A6 tip is holding up well after my TC upgrade, no slipping, also using VAST stage 3 TIP file in the TCU
    I don't think I care anymore
