The warranty on our oem xenons is only 12 months??

Took my car in for its 45k service today and told my service advisor about the passenger side HID flickering at times. he said the warranty is only 12 months on lights and i got an estimate of over 200 to get a diagnostic. is this true? has anyone else dealt with this before? the flickering has been there since i got the car but i figured it wasnt a big deal til i read a couple threads about it. then i figured why not get it fixed while i still have a warranty. pretty much if they determine its the bulb or ballast or something else that isnt covered i have to pay for the diagnostic and parts. feedback/advice welcome. thanks.

There is a TSB for "flickering" lights.

Technical Product Literature Transaction No.: 2013829/3
Headlight, low beam may not work Release date: Aug 27, 2007

    Condition

There are two separate conditions that both occur in vehicles with Bi-Xenon,
with or without Adaptive Lighting (AFS). The conditions are:

. One xenon light on either side sporadically flickers or flashes and
goes out. When the headlamps are turned off and on again or at ignition
cycle, the headlamps may function properly or exhibit the same behavior.

. One xenon light on one side fails permanently.

Oh, and find a new dealer.

I also had this problem last year in both headlights. My car is a 2005.5. The dealer fixed it, no questions asked. ^^ definitely find a new dealer - those guys are ripping you off

mines a 05.5 bought it used with 41k and it flickered for several months and then started to suddenly turn off by itself sometimes. dealer gave me a hard time said that i lowered the car so it voided the light warranty. came back when i had like 49,500 miles and kind of said hey the lights dyeing when im going down the road... and i was going out of town so i said keep the car for a day and see for your self blah blah and so they fixed it. they said bulbs usually cost 1200 haha. anyways ya go to a new dealer and let them see for themselves over night and be confident in saying its under warranty

i heard about that as well, like light bulbs, etc are not covered under warranty after 12months, but other dealers might let you slide.
