Getting New Pads, Should I get New Rotors as well?

Basically thats my question. I'm thinking of getting akebono pads. After doing research I think those are worth a try. I don't run my car hard, don't track. Just looking for something low noise, and LOW dust. But if I'm replacing my pads, should I also look into getting my rotors replaced? I want to avoid any problems now while I'll be replacing. Thanks for any help.

I guess the first question is what is your rotor thickness? If it is close you might as well replace them as well. If you are asking about the cross contamination or bedding issue you can clean/lightly sand the rotors when you change the pads, re-bed the new pads and be good to go.

Yea, that was my concern basically. Sorry I should have mentioned, because I still have plenty of life on my stock rotors. But thanks for the answer thats what I will follow.

I also remember seeing someone post that they used race pads to clean their rotors but that seems like an expensive option unless you change pads often. Brake cleaner and sand paper seems much more economical.

    yes, get new rotors.

These days rotors are designed to be disposable, with the difference between a new rotor & worn rotor is only 2-3mm of total wear.
