ECU Error Codes - Anyone seen these?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am a little confused as to why I am getting these errors since I just replaced my O2 sensors about a month ago.

    4 Faults Found:

17865 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 2 (G236): Open or Short to Plus
    P1457 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17521 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor; B1 S1: Internal Resistance too High
    P1113 - 35-00 - -
    16518 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S1: No Activity
    P0134 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30: Voltage too Low
    P1602 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

Now I used some of the sensors from ebay that someone recommended. They were from partsrex.com and are some generic Chinese sensors not the Bosch ones. They were plug and play not the ones that need modification. Has anyone else used the cheapo o2 sensors without problems?

I hope those sensors are not why I am getting these since they are so much fun to replace.

Does anyone know what 18010 error is for?

Most of those codes are pretty self explanatory.

18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30: Voltage too Low

Did you disconnect the ECU or battery recently?

EDIT: And are those the same codes you had before replacing the sensors?

Yes I did before my ross-tech cable came in I disconnected my battery to clear the codes and see if they came back.

So the O2 sensor ones are because of the el-cheapo sensors?

Both of those codes are for the same sensor, so I wouldn't say that. Go back and check the sesnor is seated at the harness and the wires aren't cut anywhere. It happens sometimes. I'd get that EGT sensor replaced too..

Yes that egt sensor will cause your car to go into limp mode which will prevent it to boost normally. It will only boost to around 5 psi. So basically it will feel sluggish. Plus it will get horrible gas milage and because its not reading correctly can foul out other sensors and if left long enough plug a catylatic converter.

bank 1 is passenger side, so the o2 is passenger side, I would check connections as mholme stated. Thinking outside the box would mean you could of recieved a defective 02 sensor, I would def not rule that out especially since you ordered a cheap one.

try Vastperforance.com you can get a set for 215 bucks thats a little over 100 a piece. Not extremely bad.

the low votlage code is just because battery was disconnected

Thanks for the advise. I appreciate it.

Do you know if that is passenger or drivers side EGT sensor?

Sensor 2 is driver side for EGT's. B1=passenger side, B2=driver side. And before you ask, genuineaudiparts.com is the cheapest place to get one

I agree that genuineaudiparts.com is cheapest too.

The drivers side egt sensor is def more difficult to replace then passenger side becuase of less room, but it can be done.

At least the passenger side oxygen sensor is easy to check and get to.

I would clear the codes with a scan tool and see what comes back, disconnecting the battery dosent clear the fault memory all the time.

Yeah I cleared them once my Ross-Tech cable arrived. I had the cheap ebay cable but when I had the k-wire problem it fried it. I am starting fresh to see what comes back. Drove to work this morning so when I go to lunch one should come back.

Thanks to everyone for the information and referrals.

I'm in almost the same situation. My egts went bad and messed up my o2's so now i have to change everything.

*Dont mean to jack ur thread man* but can anyone tell me how they got their drivers side egt off? the bolt is impossible to reach with my wrench and i know its stuck hard like the other side.

Just gotta get the right angle on it. Loosen the heatshield, move the coolant tank to get more clearance. Small hands help but it's doable from the top.

Wanted to post some information I got from genuineaudivwparts.com. Looks like Audi has change the EGT's part numbers:

Hi Alex, The EGTs now come as a kit of two. Part number 078998124 is our price 375.85. There are a handleful of dealers that still have the old number 078919529F but you will have to contact them yourself. Let me know if you want a phone number. Keep in mind list price on the 078919529F is 322.08

What is strange is that the car is not in limp mode BTW. I am boosting at 1.2bar. I got the codes again too. Strange.

Get a proper O2 sensor socket also. Sears has them.
