hmm.. not sure but I think this is legit... they have a whole site of petitions world wide.

I think the problem with e-petitions is that there are no actual signatures. No addresses. You have to be a registered voter to sign a petition and there is no way to verify that with an online petition. I could have my 10yr old's name on it and they'd count it. I think that's why they are not accepted.
The petition has the zip code field as optional. What if someone from Oregon signs it? So I doubt it'd be taken seriously.
FWIW I signed it anyway.

^^ maybe this just shows california that people are opposed to this law and then at that point california will look into doing something about it. Who knows, but might as well try!
