i just recently got a light weight flywheel and stage 3 clutch installed and i absolutely love it the revs feel like they come quicker and the engagement point is right at the top. got it done from clutchmasters and the guys there were really helpfully and i fully recommend them and the lightweight flywheel they are making for our cars as well as the clutch

I assume rev-matching is easier to do? I am having a terrible time getting used to the S4 in terms of rev matching -- my last car had a much lighter flywheel, I'm sure.

Can someone explain the clutch stages? That is, what are the major differences between stages 1,2,3,etc? Sorry for the noob question :)

There's not really an "industry standard" that explains the stages. In clutches, they essentially relate to the holding characteristics of the clutch, influenced by materials.

    Re: new clutch and flywheel

That's funny, I actually called them on Monday cause I need a new clutch and the guy I talked to convinced me NOT to get a new lightened flywheel. Said unless i was planning on put a lot more power down the flywheel wouldn't be worth it. Which is kind of weird you would think someone working there would want to sell more products. I should have my car back on Friday so we'll see how it goes I guess.

    Re: new clutch and flywheel

okay well the cost was 1800 for the flywheel and clutch assembly then it was another 1200 for labor it was done at audi so possibly could have been cheaper

Mine is getting stalled right now. I was quoted $775 for the install.

    Re: new clutch and flywheel

Nice. When I replace my clutch (sooner rather than later), I'm not planning on boosting the power much, but I do want to put something in that is more durable than OEM. The idea of replacing it again in 30-50k miles is not appealing to me.
