    AWE HPFP Installed

After receiving my generous cashback $$$$ from the VMR ebay deal 60 days ago, I decided to order up the high flow pump from my favorite local tuner. Although I can't say I am suffering from any fuel cuts with GIAC software, I purchased the pump looking towards a BT in the future or the highly anticipated *cough cough* GIAC HPFP file for some quick gains.

Of course, I will inspect the cam follower and lobe for wear in regards to TSB 150702. I will photograph and document their current state pre-install to monitor any change with the higher flowing pump.

I'll be following these DIY's and will post pictures showing (parts) of the process for those interested.

    Re: AWE HPFP Install Preview

I like how AWE made a pump but it seems a lil' pricey compared to the OTHER pump upgrade kits out there. I know some arent a fan of KMD, but I havent had a problem with them in the past and there upgrade is significantly cheaper even installed.
I know want to know what the difference is between the two.
Also, AWE does not flash REVO, so for those who had the fuel cut problem and wanted an upgrade, You wont be able to get the file for free on the spot unlike KMD where I can upgrade my Revo Stage 2 file to Stage 2 + for FREE with installation of the Pump.

Guess it comes down to the difference between the kits, and then whether you have GIAC which AWE provides services for or another company such as APR,REVO, or Dahlback.

I cant wait to hear your thoughts.

It looks like a solid kit and when you think about the precise requirements of the hardware, the price is still good when compared to APR. I am waiting for people to put some serious miles on the pump and then reveal follower wear to see if this pump is any better than KMD or Autotech, as follower wear is the single biggest concern with hpfp's.

    Re: AWE HPFP Install Preview

I have apr 93 file right now and am looking at getting a hpfp as well. Originally I was just going to get their pump and file at the same time. But now that awe has come out with one, I was wondering if I could use AWE's pump in conjuction with APR's fuel file. How much would it be to get flashed with just the fuel file and would it work just as good?

AWE only does GIAC from my understanding :/
Id go to them for the fuel pump but they dont have the REVO files I need. and I can kill 2 birds with 1 stone if I go to KMD...Still curious about this pump.THe price is still a killer I feel compared to others.

Yes, we only sell GIAC Programming.

We can install the pump on any car, regardless of which software is present. It is up to the owner of the car to ensure they have the correct file.

Our Fuel Pump will easily supply pressure up to the 130bar limiting valve found on the OE rail, so there should be no issues with use of software that works in that range.

If you have any other technical questions regarding our pump, feel free to ask, but lets try to keep this thread on topic for Andrew's review after he gets it installed.

I dont think it ever went off topic... :/ Its all about HPFP...and a lil comparison in between...

AWE what do u feel about replacing the Cam Follower before or after this fuel pump, do u recommend it like others?

It cannot hurt, but it is not required.

You should inspect it carefully during installation. If you see no wear on the follower, there really is no reason to change it in our opinion. If you see any wear at all, however, be prepared to replace. Follow the TSB on our site, and err on the side of caution.

Re: AWE HPFP Install Preview Update #1

Update #2: Success! Fuel Pump has been installed. Upon removal of pump, follower and cam looked flawless, will post pictures later.

The hardest part was removal and replacement of the pump, while the internal switch-out was painless. I can't tell you how helpful having a step-by-step video is to the whole process.

Going for a drive tonight. Anyone have suggestions for things to look for? Will I even notice a difference if I never had experienced fuel cuts in the past? Change in boost etc?

Re: AWE HPFP Install Preview Update #1

Alright, taken for a drive and put the hammer down.

Does it feel different? I guess? There's definitely no shortage of fuel, but a new (potentially unrelated) issue has developed:
In 4th gear, around 3200, I floored it. There was then hesitation from about 3500-4000 at peak boost (~21). The revs did keep going, like clutch slippage, but then caught again. Very odd feeling, but doesn't seem to affect anything else, power feels great.

Ambient temp 23 degrees F, 10,000 miles on the car, stock clutch. GIAC 93 chip.

Thanks for reminding me guys. Long term has felt great. Still no file The problem I described has seemingly disappeared. I've gotten on it to the same extent, and did not feel the 'slippage' at all. I took the car to AWE shortly after the install, and despite some fuel issues that will be fixed with the new file (John may be able to say a little bit more here).

Overall very happy that I upgraded the pump, and looking forward to pushing the limits even more with Stage 2+

Oh, and mpg is still kinda balls around 17 or 18

Another update. On the highway tonight, 5th gear around 80mph, put the foot down and the car would feel out of breath, before accelerating again. Noticeable change in sound from the engine, and doesn't seem to happen in the lower gears.

So could this be boost related (AWE DV, Eurojet PCV fix, Stock PCV), or fuel related due to lack of proper programming?

i dont think they r running Revo, so the program is not set up for the amount of fuel running into the motor, i suggest switching chips but thats just my opinion

sure there company whether its apr (which i know they havre a file) or GIAC which im not sure of has a file in the midst....

This is exactly why I didnt go with AWE's pump, they couldnt offer me the REVO file, only GIAC software...KMD on the other hand, same pump, cheaper and they have the file.

I want to say turbo, next time I will keep a closer eye on the boost gauge, or shoot a video documenting the whole issue.

Follower was not replaced, everything looked to be in perfect shape, only 9k on the car.

What software are you people runnin with that are having those problems..
I'm on GIAC 93, and never felt any hesitation before installing the new pump. I might have AWE check my installation when the file is upgraded, although I doubt my work is the reason for whatever I'm feeling now.

Exactly, the Giac 93 file is not prob suppose to work with the HPFP...

Our revo software is either stage 1, stage 2, or stage 2+....u MUST have a fuel pump upgrade to run stage 2+ unlike stage 1 or 2..

do u think ur DV valve might be out, or u holding boost or do u have no boost at all

ya stage 2+ is set up for the extra fuel, but hes running Giac, im guessing ur close to AWE and the only programer close to u is Giac, really u just have to find a chip that supports the pump, i think thats one way u will solve this problem but most of the time its something mechanical
