quick help please

started a car and all of a sudden blinking check engine light and rough idle. hookd up innova check engine light scanner and said cylinder 1 misfire. check engine keeps blinking. so im guessing blown coil? which cylinder is 1? the closest to the front? and is there a way to test ignition coil with a multimeter or something?

Cylinder 1 is closest to the front. I would say blown coil.

Easiest way to check for blown coil is to change the ignition coil from cylinder 1 and 2. Scan again and if it moves to cylinder 2 it is the ignition coil. Replace as necessary.

*sometimes, the scanner will still say the misfire is in the same cylinder. If that happens, clear codes, turn off car, start back up, rev till CEL starts to blink again (or if it comes on immedialtely), scan again (sometimes it happens again or it will say misfires in both cylinder 1 and 2. but this is not the case and it is def the ignition coil. upon another scan, it will def say it is the other cylinder), and replace as necessary.

Hey, been there myself. I am local to you, and I have two brand new and 2 stock in working condition. I can help you if you want to try them before you thow money on coils and find out that's not it. (most likely it is) and (I wish I was able to do that when I had that problem )
