Sorry for another one of these posts - but not having dabbled in the VAG world for too long you guys will most likely know better than me. Test drove a 2001.5 S4 w/ 61k on it today. Powder coated black wheels w/ new nitto neo gen's, tints, ss brake lines, borla exhaust, clear bra, red on black, recently replaced stereo & display, still under warranty (extended to 100k - but not sure if that transfers to me yet). Seller is asking $14,000. Car drove solid and looked clean - nothing abnormal by my detection. Decent deal?

Seems like a good deal, offer a little less and see if he will go for it... Good luck

Mods don't increase resale value. I'd be looking to pay between 10-12k for that car.

blue book is 10,995. print out the blue book page and show it to her and see what she does. she will probably say the mods add value blah blah blah. they dont. give her 12,500

Agree... in many cases, I've seen mods decrease value. Offer blue book or a tad more and if the seller starts talking about mods, suggest they could part it out. Most people are too lazy to do so.

I'm aware mods decrease value - hence why I'm parting out my B7 before I sell it (most parts already spoken for btw). I was planning on offering somewhere between 11-12 and taking it from there. The situation where I was thinking 13-14 *may* not be outlandish was if the warranty carried over and if the car is really in as good shape as it appeared to be. Is there any maintenance that is supposed to be done shortly thereafter, like around 75k? could always use that as a bargaining chip too. I appreciate the response though - thanks!
