Talking Avants no longer have scrawny exhaust tips

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was at the dealership yesterday and I noticed that they had some of their new deliveries in the showroom. There were 2 Avants that had caught my eye, one was had the sport package while the other did not. I noticed that they both had much larger exhaust tips than the B8 Avants that had previously been displayed in the showroom.

I went outside to their lot to take a look at my Avant which had just been delivered and it too had the larger exhaust tips. I compared it to a couple of other Avants and have come to the conclusion that B8 Avants, regardless of trim level, with later build dates in 2008 and have much larger diameter tips than the ones rolling off the production line earlier in 2008.

Thank goodness... because the scrawny ones looked a little weak. Can't comment on the B8 sedan though...

Finally... Is it bad form to post pics of other board members rides as an example? (there are tonnes of examples) . I didn't get a chance to take any side by side pictures of my own.

Re: Avants no longer have scrawny exhaust tips

It's not exactly a 4 inch tip or anything but at least it's something. As far as when the cut over occured, I have no idea. All I know is that half the inventory at my dealership had the smaller tips and half had the larger variety.

I would imagine that once the remaining inventory is cleared, all new deliveries would have this change.

Wow... could it be that Audi actually listens and responds that quickly?

yeah something is definitely up, they see that they're starting to pull ahead and they don't want to fuck it up. hell we weren't even supposed to get quattro+6spd B8 A4's or S4 Avants, but we got the q6pds, and the s4 avants are more than likely going to come too.

Re: Avants no longer have scrawny exhaust tips

My Avant- Prestige s-sline wheel package, delivered in Nov 08, has the larger tips, bigger then the sedan and is why I'm happy with the stock tips and will not ruin them with fancy smancy chrome ones. Look is aggressive and I love it! Will post some pics this weekend...

Actually, Audi always did say that the US market would get manual quattro's with the 2.0T. They said that the V6 wouldnt' get a manual.
Also, I think the Avants weren't getting manuals either, so you're right on that one, if I remember correctly.

Re: Avants no longer have scrawny exhaust tips

I believe that all the Sline Avants came with the larger diameter tips regardless of build date. Now we're seeing all other trim levels having the larger diameter tips phased in as well.

Again, I'm not 100% sure that they are EXACTLY the same diameter as the Slines but they definitely made a change.

So why can't they be included stock? Another chinsy move by Audi.

    +2

I've had a B7 Sline for the past 4 years and I can honestly say I prefer the chromeless look... and I believe that the ones on my new Avant are larger in diameter than the ones on my B7.

I could never keep the chrome soot free so they looked like ass anyways.
