    Going away gifts

So I got a job for Honda R&D (no I'm not gonna buy a ricer) in Ohio and I'm moving friday. My dad works for GEICO and was able to get a wrecked S4 bumper. He used to be an auto-body repair man so he fixed it up for me and we just put it on the other day. I love it! The only problem we had was the S4 bumper must be thicker than my stock one. We had to cut some of the support, it still doesn't fit perfectly but its not incredibly noticeable.

I also replaced the stock speakers with Infinity Reference's 5.25" in the front, 6.5" in the back doors and I took out the rear deck speakers. I'm going to get a 10" or 12" Resonant Engineering SE and put it in a small box so I have some trunk room. I also bought myself some ContiExtremeContact's which should be good in the snow this winter.

I just need to find some fog lights, anybody know where to get them cheaper than the stealership?

Thanks. That would be awesome but I don't know home much pull I'll have being a rookie test engineer lol

The stock front speaker size is 4" or 4.5" but they have some crazy adapter which I didn't use (seen below). I used long screws for the fronts and bent the mounting brackets on the door so the 5.25" frame wedged between the screws. I followed some tutorial from audiworld but i can't find it now.

The stock rear door speakers are 6.5". The adapter that came with the new speakers matched the stock 3 screw mount on the door and with some fuckin around I made it work.

    Congratulations on the job!
What plant are you working at? I am right smack in the middle of Honda country and know people at all the plants.. from ELP and MAP to AEP and HTM. Of course there is also Honda R&D.. and judging by your post that's the facility where you'll spend the majority of your time, but I would imagine you'll be floating around most of them in the area.

    Congrats again.

I bought my S4 fogs from OEMPl.us, only place besides Audi I was able to find them.
300$ incl. shipping. (Saved me about 200$, they cost around 500$ here at Audi! :O)

So maybe you can hear with them?

Thanks alot. I'm going to be living in Dublin until I find an apt. Yea I'm pretty sure the test lab is in the R&D building. I'm going to be doing either electrical design, engine design work or both but I definitly get to test drive the cars!

So I take it you're going to be working for TRC? I have a couple buddies from college that work there. Pay is decent and they have great job security.

    Good luck with the move.

Thanks. The pay isn't amazing for an electrical engineer but living in Ohio should be cheap compared to southwest CT. I have a sweet 600 mile trip ahead of me!

I think he means he's working directly for Honda R&D. TRC is right in the same area though, my dad worked there when I was a kid for ATL "Automotive Testing Laboratories". He would always take me in there when they had Ferrari's and Lambo's, and still brags about driving them on The Track.

    Re: Going away gifts

Yea it's directly for R&D. They said I will be assigned to a specific model and travel with it. I will get to go to Minnesota for cold weather testing and the Baja desert for hot weather testing. I heard of some guys who work solely on suspension get to go to Nurburgring.

Honda contracts TRC and their facilities. 90% of their employees have paychecks that come from TRC. The people that are truly specialized and only work on/for Honda get their paychecks from Honda. I'm not saying you're wrong, but the chances of being hired directly through Honda are slim. At least without working for TRC beforehand.

EDIT: I re-read the last post. That sounds like a pretty decent job. Looks like you're on your way to doing what some people dream of.

I went to the University of Northwestern Ohio, in Lima. We had a handful of students working there, and they showed up to all our job fairs.
Good company, I didn't pursue the company much b/c I didn't want to live in OH for any longer.

Rent is definitely cheap. A nice 3 bedroom house down there is $700/mo, with a garage.
