Re: Installed RNS-E and have a few questions.

Obviously am/fm as the symphony II doesn't have nav.

There shouldn't be any difference as long as you connected all the correct harnesses back up.

You might want to try over on www.audiforum.us as they are the most knowledgeable when it comes to the RNS-E.

SD cards and CDC in the glove box!!!

Plus, once you get used to the interface and actually using the Nav. it is pretty freaking useful. I use mine all the time, especially on long trips when I want some coffee or something else along my route.

since you only have two aerials in the car with a symphony/concert and the rns-e have four youll get an error logged with is something like antenna short to ground.

You can solve this with a diversity module from a Golf. Its about 200$ but it should be worht it. There is a thread over att www.navplus.us about it.

I have a diversity box on my desk at work but not the fakra adapters to connect it so i have not tested it.

So you havent done anything wrong! its just the way it is...

Also I believe I was shipped the European one because it has the CD/TV button. What are the differences between the Euro and US RNS-E?

The firmware and the text on the radio and cd/tv button. But you can change the firmware and alot of ppl do this because the US modell is more rare.

I have a EU converted NA RNS-E. Its not the best Nav but nothing beats the clean look of OEM

Re: Installed RNS-E and have a few questions.

I have a Euro one as well, flashed with the US Firmware. Works great! I really like the Nav. Although it may not be as nice a touch screen in a Acura or Nissan, it gets the job done and is very simple to operate.

My parents have MB's with SatNav and I have to say, it's really hard to figure out. And I know how to use computer's pretty well. The RNS-E is very straight forward with it. Which I like. And surprisingly, it's got a lot of great features. Like if there is an accident on the highway you're on, you can go into the options and have it re-route you along state or back roads. Things like that are very cool.

Not quite. There are differences between the Euro and US software. However, most people would never notice.

For example the SDS is only available on Euro software and I believe you need to have a hack version of Euro software for VIM as well.

    Speech Dialogue System.

It's so that you can perform certain functions with voice commands (radio, Navi, etc.).

There is a lot more information on www.audiforum.us than anywhere else.

You will need to search for speech or dialogue as SDS is too short of term and no results will be returned.

ok so i contacted the guy i puchased it from and he said i can return the Euro version for the US version. but that would involve shipping the unit back to poland. is it worth it or should i just keep the Euro version?

If your unit can read US map DVDs then you are running US firmware. If it can't then you are most likely running Euro firmware.
