Fast Intentions Resonated X-Pipe CATBACK Unboxing!

After picking up my '04 B6 S4 before a short deployment overseas I spent my downtime back at base reading up on various aftermarket exhausts for the car. The first mod I wanted to do was a full exhaust, but I want to save up for the AWE downpipes so went with just a catback. Due to the numerous positive reviews here on AudiZine and other sites, as well as listening to the exhaust note on various videos, I decided to go with a Fast Intentions 8-inch resonated X-Pipe catback. I was able to call Danny at FI and quickly let him know what I was looking for due to a 15 minute time limit on phones calls at our base. I need to give FI credit here, I initially asked for a 10-inch resonator but changed my mind the next day after worrying I'd regret having too subtle of a sound with the larger resonator. Danny was able to change my order no questions asked. Foul on my part, but I'm glad FI was able to roll with my indecision.

Well, today this showed up at my door:

    Let's unbox this thing:

    X-Pipe section with 8-inch resonator:

Notice the correction made from a 10-inch to 8-inch, looks good:

    What do we have here?:

That's what I'm talking about, unrapping the Sebring tips made the wait worth it:

    The whole setup:

I'm getting it installed tomorow, stay tuned for post-install photos and some sound clips as well.

OO very nice, I got the same setup but also with the downpipes from FI. Sounds so good and is such good quality, you will love it I promise you.

No quicker way to look like an asshole than to rock on-base housing with a non-res exhaust.

Its not as bad as you might think it is. The resonated FI was a little too quiet for me. Its all personal preference though. Your going to love it no matter what.

i agree. the FI catback by itself is way too tame...i can't wait to do the downpipes.

Amen! I had to consider the future increase in volume once I add downpipes in a few months. If this wasn't my daily driver a non-res would be worthy of consideration. Can you talk about the differences in construction between the LaBree and FI product?

They are basically the same product. Danny left Labree and started FI (or else its the other way around). Pretty much identical. The only reason i parted with the resonated was to pick up a non-res.

Sorry i didnt realize you were going to add DP's. That will sound very nice when done.

BTW, i noticed you mentioned "base", are you serving?

Changed my order to the 8-inch, you can see where Danny made the adjustment, nice of him to hook me up after changing my mind. I owe him one!

Once you put some Dp's on there you will be happy you have the res. The elimination of the cat (depending on how you go) will result in more res threw the exhaust.

    2nd danny and FI

He stepped out on his own several years ago. Labree is nice but danny has that hard core racer dirty hands knowledge. You see that in his products and his customer service.

    8" res + X + Dp's you should be really happy
