Another 3rd gear synchro problem... thanks for the help!

I bought a certified pre-owned 07 A4 2.0T 6MT w/ 29K about a month ago and have been reading up on Audizine ever since. I had been noticing a slight grind shifting into 3rd, and was able to find tons of good info about likely sources of the problem and how to deal with it.

Long story short, I took the car to the dealer yesterday and just got a call that the 3rd gear synchro appears to be excessively worn and they're going to tear down the transmission to diagnose it further before deciding exactly what to do.

Which leads me to the reason for my first post... just want to thank everyone who has posted on here and offered suggestions and advice. I'm excited to own this car and look forward to gaining more knowledge from everyone.

how did u get them to do that i have 4k mile son my car and at time its so hard to put the car into gear .. when the car is hot NOT cold..

I didn't really do anything... I just brought it in and explained that 3rd gear had a slight grind. Actually, I didn't even tell them what I thought the problem was because I wanted to see what they'd say first. So far the dealership has been good to me, and I'm just hoping they take the time to do this right and check the whole tranny out while they have it apart.
