    so... only 15lbs of boost

Okay so I'll try to be as descriptive as possible. It all started when my car started to shake on the highway. I was getting a misfire in cylinder 5. Then I went to a shop and they moved my coil packs around and the misfires stopped. so i drove it home and the car pulled 19lbs of boost for 2 days then the shuddering started to happen again. Went back to the shop and they replaced the coil pack it was in the same cylinder. Car was fine for 2 days pulled 19lbs of boost then it shuddered again. After that i was like hmm. So i replaced the spark plugs with ngk iridium's. Car pulls at 15lbs and and 14lbs. I went to the shop got the codes cleared still pulls 15lbs. (mabie the ecu is in limp mode)

So Im wondering if my ecu is still in limp mode its requested boost is 19lbs of boost. Cause when i went there and the loged the car it was pulling 19lbs on the computer and my boost gauge. I had the check engine light turned off.

    Or

are my coil packs going bad and its just runs now because the iridium's might be easier for my coil packs to spark.

    or

Did my n75 valve somehow go bad?

I don't want to replace the coil packs that 300 bucks

If your CEL was on, it's not just misfires. Without knowing those codes, it's just guess work. Is it on your invoice maybe?

cool, I as well run EPL software good stuff. the killer is you need to know the codes to get remote. Dos eteh car run good know or just weak? you may have a boost leak starting to act up.

Re: so... only 15lbs of boost

my car runs great. I was in a hury when i left the shop so they just cleared the codes and stuff maybe they didn't clear them the right way and its still in limp mode. when i first when there when they logged it and cleared my first codes of my misfires and switched my coil packs my car hit 19lbs of boost. Ill have to see if theirs a person here in Corvallis who can vag-com my car or just drive back to Portland. And my codes the shop told me misfires in a cylinder and my throttle had trouble resetting but the second time it rest itself. My cel was flashing also and that caused the cel to come on. Its been 2 days now and no cel

Flashing CEL is multiple misfires. I've never seen a steady CEL with just misfire codes. Yeah, see if you can't recreate the issue with someone with a VAG-COM.

first off learn how to spell maybe
it sounds like you have a bad coil pak. and fyi limp mode is 0 boost. not 15, not 10 psi. and im also not sure why you just replaced the plugs.. did they really need to be replaced? you just threw another question into the equation; were the plugs you installed gapped properly?

Re: so... only 15lbs of boost

The ngk iridium's were pre gaped to .26. My car would shake violently with the old plugs which were the ngk7re they had 7k miles on them so they were due for a change. After i changed the plugs the car instantly went to 15lbs of boost with the CEL on. Ill see if i can get the codes from the invoice. Currently i have no misfires so would that still mean i have a bad coil pack. Also another thing Ive been wondering about is if its the ICM's.

.26 is probably too small of gap. increase to .28-.30 im gapped to .25 and i misfire until my engine warms up but im stage 3 with a 8 (colder) heat range plug

Re: so... only 15lbs of boost

    yes. regap them to .28
you have a 7 heat range plug. hotter plug more gap. colder plug less gap.
also be sure ALL your plugs are gapped exactly to .28 mm
i still think you have a bad coil pak. dont go replacing all of them. just do the one thats bad
lol who told you it would break the plug to change the gap? you may not want to listen to that person anymore

Re: so... only 15lbs of boost

    1. get the codes from your CEL
    2. confirm your coils are all good
    3. make sure you dont have a leak
    4. log and see if spec boost = actual boost (unless you really trust your gauge)
    5. regap plugs
