    Re: Queitest exhaust

I have been trying to determine the same thing. Want the performance but don't want the unnecessary drone or rice sound. From what I have read Miltek is the most quiet system, unfortunately it is also one of the most expensive.

    Re: Queitest exhaust

I have the Milltek and got it for $500 used ship. It did not have a Milltek downpipe though, but oh well. The shop I had install it had a downpipe laying around (2.5" I think it is) that he let me have. What I did was wait maybe 7 months for a deal to come around, as I was not willing to pay $1200+shipping on a brand new unit. Found one here on AZ classifieds and that waiting finally paid off .

APR is also a very quiet exhaust. If I did not get the Milltek, I would have gone with them. The APR is 2.5" vs the Milltek which is 2.75". Another thing to consider before doing an exhaust is to determine your overall goals with your vehicle. A 2.5" exhaust will be rather restrictive for any turbo bigger than a GT2871r. If going bigger than that, then def go 3" the first time around (custom your own one with reliable parts. you could also use an exhaust from the B5 S4 3" single, as it mates up perfect to the B5 A4 chasis. So, if you can find a person parting with a B5 S4 Milltek Resonated, get it . you will just need to cut off and weld shut the y-peice). There are many whom go full 3" on thier stock turbo for this simple reason. Also, may want to look into Vibrant Exhausts (not the quietest, but is def quiet. though the sound note is nice).

    Re: Queitest exhaust

I got a custom exhaust with a Magnaflow 14830 and kept the stock resonator for $280.00 installed. I love it...I wouldn't expect much gain from it, but the sound is subtly great...and quiet, no drone at all.

It's a little louder in person...not the best camera/audio work in the world.

    Re: Queitest exhaust

The Neuspeed Exhaust is a tad bit louder than stock. A friend of mine has it.

But i have a quick question (sorry if i thread jack) If i were to get a custom made exhaust using a Magnaflow muffler and want to keep the sound REALLY low/no highway drone. What resonator should i run?

Vibrant. By far, the best sounding sovereign resonators I have come to know (nice complete cat back exhausts too. check youtube videos for soundclips: type "Audi Vibrant").

    Re: Queitest exhaust

my muffler wins for the most quiet but nice sounding exhaust upgrade you can do. 2 inches longer then normal magnaflow. no drone at all. sounds great. iv got nothing but compliments from people with subi's, audis, bmw's, and so on. 2.8 though. $220 installed.

oh nevermind though, 1.8t owners care so much about performance, forgot. spend your $500 + on exhaust.
