400awhp+ B6 roadtrip, do YOU want to see it?

I'm going to be driving my father's car back from California next week. I'm flying out Monday and will depart on my journey (with my shop partner) on Tuesday. We will be in Las Vegas Tuesday night, Amarillo TX Wednesday night, Memphis TN Thursday night, Greensboro NC Friday night and Philly PA Saturday night.

The car will be going a great distance, and by many major cities. I would post this up in the regional forums, but I'm covering the whole country. I figure the B6 forum would be most interested so I posted it here. If it gets moved that would be a shame. Post up if you are along this route and want to see the car or offer information in case of car issues. Post up and I look forward to the trip and meeting some of you guys!

Agreed, this would be a good test. Better yet, lets make this a time trial, so you can get there faster then 2 days and 2 hours. That way you'll push the car ;), rather then coast 75mph on your whole trip.

O and please bring a camera and take some pics along the way, this is kinda like a once in a lifetime type of thing for some (cross country trip).

I dont know exactly where he is starting but I said Los Angeles then plugged in each stop he has to get his route up to PA. Then I said Rhode Island after that. That was 3241 miles so say 3250 miles. I dont know where in RI that is though.

3250miles, say 350 miles per tank of fuel. That is 9.3 tanks. Say he will average $2.25 per gallon and a tank full will be 16 gallons.

16x2.25=$36 per tank x 9.3 tanks=$335

A transporter would be like $500-$700 last time I checked before gas went way up and then came back down now to where it was.

can you report back your mileage/ fuel economy/ highway cruising speed/ and problems or fixes and all that sort of stuff if possible?

i'd be real interested in seeing how a car with this kind of engine and watermelon-sized turbo performs as far as fuel economy because i'm interested in tuning my car up but also taking a 2-month cross country road trip and don't know if i should really work on the car before the trip at all and this would really be interesting to see

The car will perform just like your k03 car when cruising down the highway driving normally. When cruising you are not in boost and not using extra fuel to supply the power. When I had my GTRS turbo and drove easy (cruise control at 75-80mph) I got 400 miles on a tank and that was with a 5 speed which is gonna rev higher while cruising on the freeway than a 6 speed which will use more fuel.

what about the larger injectors & such, don't they affect cruising MPGs?

The car will run at 14.1-14.5 to 1 air fuel just like it did with stock injectors. No more fuel is being used while in vacuum. Like I said with my gtrs I got just as good or better fuel mileage and that was running 440cc injectors while stock are like 265cc or something like that.

Right through Asheville and Greensboro. I was just there a few weeks ago. Daniel will want to see the car. He's just outside Greensboro and Raleigh.







I think this trip will be fine on the car. If that car is built like mine there will be almost no issues. Just bring some tools, blue painters tape, coolant, laptop and some other misc stuff and you're good to go.

David, the mileage thing is incorrect. You have to remember he has big cams=more air=more fuel. I get 25MPG highway in mine.
