Big Thumbs down to VMR!

About 3 months ago I bought 19" RS4 reps in onyx black. The wheels were well taken care of and the car is garaged at home and work. The wheels are loosing their lust and rusting inside the spokes ridiculous!! Not happy at all! Sorry just needed to vent!

probably a situation where you contact VMR and let them know about the problem. chances are good that they will do something about it.

that is strange, VMR have a very good reputation for quality, particularly the wheels. Ive never had an issue with VMR or their products... did you call them?

I've had problems with the Onyx Black. They last for maybe a year or so. Once you get a couple nicks in them its all over. Give it a couple good rains and the water gets behind the laminate and lifts it. I'm looking for new wheels now, not too happy with how mine are looking now.

Well I totally feel u on the peeling part, sucks when wheels do that...BUT

Why dont u just paint them a custom color! :P

what color was the rust btw? It should not have been noticeable since the wheels are aluminum alloy.. if there is orange, steel-like rust, it may not be the wheels.. either that or the wheels are not actually aluminum.. :/

anyways VMR has some of the chillest guys ive ever met and I think you should have talked to them before making a vent thread because im sure they will take care of you. It would be a lot different if you have tried to reason with them for three months and they were terrible to you but that doesnt seem the case

i've experienced finish problems as well on my hyper silver RS4 reps from VMR. soon after the purchase i noticed it started to look bad, but since i bought them used (never used though) from a member i don't have a way of getting them replaced by VMR direct.

well said. like one company once said, there will be hundreds of satisfied customers that wont ever post anything, but all it takes is one unsatisfied customer to fuck things up

what I did hear, was a long time ago, they had problems with the onyx coated wheels. I guess their first batches had problems and they had a recall or some sort.

I personally never purchased any wheels from them, I considered but it didnt work out, but I did meet them when I got my boost gauge. They have good customer service, from what I have read on the forums.

I think it would have been better to call them before you post, and if it didnt get resolved then post what happen. On the other hand, seems like maybe others have the same problem. I would assume it has something to do with the onyx color, rather than the wheels. (ASSUMPTION)

Got a reply from VMR tho which was good, and im sure it was upsetting for the user, so Ive read plenty of threads that are along the same lines..I do hope he made a phone call but some companies are on the zine much more than being able to contact via phone...

Actually our wheels are manufactured in Taiwan. Our facility is a large wheel manufacturer for higher-end Japanese wheels. All of our wheels are JWL & VIA tested for strength and safety in mind. We also include a 1 year warranty on any manufacturing defects or defects on the finish of the wheels.

Btw, do you know where your Axis wheels are made?

If anyone ever has any problems with out wheels, dont hesistant to give us a call or to shoot me a email directly. Ill be more then happy to work out the situation. We stand by our products 100%.

Most things that I'd spend more than a thousand dollars for.

Manufacturing and labor is outsourced in order to take advantage of the cost of labor, cost of bringing in materials, cost of machining and changing your machining process for a new line (change-over) etc. I'm not trying to make any sweeping generalizations, as every country can lay claim to a "high-end" something-or-other. But at the same time, issues like these speak for themselves. Hence the "you get what you pay for". I applaud VMR's customer service here, as the only thing worse than a case like this is when the company turns their back, but I'm suggesting if you're someone who bought a German car for build-quality reasons.. stick with it for the wheel purchase decision as well!

Guys, this isn't a debate on what is made in China, should you buy Chinese goods or if those goods are quality........lets stay on topic.

VMR makes a fine product but $hit happens to their product just like any other product. Maybe there was a flaw and it missed QC, these things happen.........it just sucks when you are on the receiving end.

Luckily VMR is very active on this board and care about thier customer relations. Don't burn anyone at the stake yet. Many of us have their probuct and very much enjoy them w/o problems

how about this, two guys I know that have 20" DPE wheels and 19" HRE C20 wheels, they each had a crack rim.

does the statement "you get what you paid for" work here?
