Place to stay for CO snowboarding?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm getting a snowboarding trip together for about 12 people the last weekend in february or the first weekend in march. Where would be a good (affordable) place to stay.

We don't necessarily need ski in/out. And we haven't decided on where we will board yet

realistically we would be boarding friday, saturday and sunday morning.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Sleep in the car.

It really depends on where you plan on hitting. And not much is really "affordable" just not requiring you to sell a kidney.

Depends where you are riding. When I lived out of state, I usually stayed in Silverthorne or Dillon and rode at Keystone and A-Basin, which are both very close. Breck is a bit further and Vail even moreso. Staying in Breck is fun, but it gets stupid crowded.

I always just Pricelined the Silverthorne/Dillon area and got killer hotel deals.

Another vote for Silverthorne/Dillon, lots of affordable hotels and plenty of places to eat/drink. I would call around to different areas to see what they can do for you. With 12 people you should be able to haggle some deals, a lot of the resorts are having difficulty booking visitors right now so I'm sure they can offer you something. At the very least they should offer some lift tickets at a nice discount, never buy these at the window unless you like butsecks. My gf and I stayed for 2 days/2 nights in Keystone last Feb and it cost me less than $200 for the room which wasn't ski in/out but I was close enough to walk to the lift in 2 mins. The room wasnt just a bed and TV we had a private deck, along with a kitchen with all the appliances you'd need, and the bedroom and living room were separate. Good luck and have fun.

Another vote for Silverthorne/Dillon. That's where all the illegals live. :)

Seriously though, it all depends on what resort you are going to go to. Decide on where you want to go and then let us know.

Are you guys beginners? Expert? Park rats? Powder hounds?

Early March is right around the beginning of spring break crowds. Book early!

Re: Place to stay for CO snowboarding?

ok.. sorry for not being specific

thought was to board a combination of breck, keystone and copper... half the crew are blue squares, the other half will do anything and are looking for some good bowl/tree runs, etc. No one is big on parks, so thats not a big deal.

Ive been searching on VRBO and they are mostly 4 night minimums. I haven't tried to contact any of the resorts directly.

Some of the VRBO places are like 400 a night - which among 12 people is dirt cheap... just looking to find one that will let us stay 2

Keystone, Breck and Copper are all big enough that you'll find good runs that everyone can do, from groomers to bowls. I think theres a La Quinta Inn (or similar) in Silverthorne that would be pretty centralized to all 3 places you mentioned. Maybe check craigslist for that area, there are lots of private condos and cabins up there and someone could be renting for your time frame.
