How rare are Avant S-Lines?

As the subject says, how hard is it to find an S-Line Avant? Also, what is the current going rate of the S-Line Avants? (2006, 2007).

was at a dealer over the weekend and asked a similar question. the dealer's feelings were that b7 avants were rare to begin with (based on how many this dealer had on their lot and sold in relation to sedans), sline avants even more so. 08 avants will have the sline appearance package but true sline avants will be difficult to find. if you are looking for a manual the search becomes even more difficult.

i have not even noticed many sline avants here on the forums where pretty much everyone is an enthusiast. i consider the sline avant to be an enthusiast car and if not many people on the boards have them i would venture to say that they are a pretty rare combo. the avant forum crowd may be able to provide some more info.

as far as pricing i have no idea but i'm sure others will chime in with a range of prices as well as ratios of avants:sedans as well as sline:non sline avants

with all that being said i have an sline avant and have yet to see another in my area over the last several years. if you can find one in your price range i say pick it up.

It's just harder to find avants in general since they didn't bring many over from europe

saw a few s-line avants at really low prices for slightly used when i was purchasing my sedan a few months back. don't really see much of em on the road though. not really a big fan of b7 avants

The closest I can find to me is about 500 miles away and almost $30k for a 2006. I figured that the Avant's in general were less popular than the sedan, hopefully $30k is not the typical price for a 2006.

I almost bought a Black 2007 A4 Avant S-line Manual in Germany, but i wasnt really into the whole wagon thing, but it looked really good. I wanted an S-line sedan but they didnt have any and they said i would have to wait for the 2008's to come out, but i couldnt wait and instead bought the car i have now.

In Europe it's about 50/50 with the sedans and avants. A fair amount of them are S-line's.

I was in search of an Sline Avant that had a decent price tag but had no luck. 1) A manual Avant is rare to being with.......2-3% of all B7 are manual avants 2) If found, they take a premium.

I ended up with an non sline Avant, it fit my budget and got me a manaul avant. I had to give a little on what I wanted but I also wasnt in the position to search forever.

I am not worried about it being manual, my wife will also need to drive it and does not know (yet) how to drive a manual. So for me I am trying to find an automatic Sline Avant with a decent price tag.

I have a while before I am going to be buying anything, so maybe something will turn up, also looking at a Subaru Legacy GT wagon.

The Legacy wagon with the 2.5XT looks like a nice ride. Keep in mind that they are two totally different cars.

I drove a 2.5XT Outback with upgraded software and I was blown away how fast it was. I mean dumb fast. BUT......the build quility isn't close to an Audi

At this point the easiest way to get one would be to design and build a fully functional time machine, travel back to when the B7 was still available, then place an order for such a car.

Picked mine up a few months back: '08 B7, Black S-Line Avant MT, used with only 4700 miles on the clock for $29k... Loving every minute

If you have the time, wait it out and one will come along. I was casually looking for almost a year before the right car came along. Avants I saw were definitely priced at a premium over the sedan. Besides, in this economy and market, it's pretty much a buyers market.

Try autotrader, cars.com, carmax, etc... I eventually found mine on craigslist an drove to San Diego from LA to get it.

Pricing depends on mileage, options, etc but I've seen non-SLines for as cheap as $22k private party. SLines, Titanium, low mileage, options, CPO, etc all drive the price up from there. Mostly I see them in the $26-29k range.

Oh, and I did notice that several dealerships on the West Coast put a bunch of used non-SLine Avants for sale in 4th quarter of 08. Clearing out the loaner fleet, I think. As typical with a dealership, pricing was high.

Its somewhat dependent on the motor/trans choice too. There are less than 50 B7 3.2 6MT Avants in the US...so when you break that down to S-Line, Ti, etc, the car becomes uber rare. There's prob a fair amount of 2.0T S-Line Avants, but I wouldn't expect it to be a car that you can just go buy off the CPO lot

Very rare, especially if you are looking for a 6spd. It took me the better part of a year to find a non-sline, I'd have taken anything. Don't be picky about the color either. If you find something that is close enough, just buy it, because you won't see another one for a long time.

We like Avants in Vermont. These two dealers have a total of 10 NEW 2008 a4 Avants left over. Some manuals even. No true s-lines (I got one of the last 2 manuals on the east coast in August - who got the black one at Herb Chambers?). Links for you if they work:

damn I want one. We've been looking for another car since we are expecting our first child soon. I was thinking along the lines of an SUV, but I think the Avant is back in the picture after seeing these pics. How much leg room is in the back though? If it's like the sedan than I'm a bit worried it's not enough.

If you're talking about a B7 Avant, the rear leg room is the same as the sedan. However, with only one kid, the Avant is perfect. I've got 3 kids and the Avant still works for us 90% of the time (though the Q7 is preferable for long trips)
