Anyone? Aftermarket Subs

Anyone have a diy to a sub & amp install? I have an avic d3 and my rear speakers + factory subs dont work. I am going to just install subs with a box n amp. I heard you can tap into the rear wiring so please give me the talk on this :)

Why would you want to tap into wiring that is obviously not working per your statement above?!

You don't want to use the factory wiring at all.

Use the subwoofer pre-outs from the D3 into your amp, then wire your sub into the amp. Simple as pie.

I used to.

Nothing is special about the D3 vs any other head unit.

I know nothing is special, i just figured the wiring may be different. Did you hook yours up to the stock sub/spekers?

No. I had it installed in my old Jetta. I ripped out everything and built it from the ground up.

Right now it sounds like you're powering your front speakers off of the head unit which is fine. Especially since that is how it is setup from the factory. Only the rear speakers and sub are powered by the stock amp.
