    STi or new motorcycle???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm having a hard time deciding what car I want to get. I need a car to replace my Coupe GT. Here is my problem, I can only have one other payment (still paying on A4). My decision is this, get an '07 Suzuki GSX-R 750 and a cheaper car (possibly high mileage '02 WRX). Or keep my '97 CBR600 and go all out and get an STi!!! An STi is going to be a little more money than I'd like to spend but I think it will be worth it. I really want a newer bike but also have always wanted an STi. So what do you guys think, what would you do?

This is the color I'd get.

    Re: STi or new motorcycle???

Neither will replace a coupe GT. depends on what you want. I personally would kill my self on a bike, so it would be STI for me. Or really, keep the GT and drop a 2.3 turbo and make that thing a sick track car. I have a soft spot for those straight 5's. Its the first engine I ever drove and I just started my uncles 4000 this past week after it sat for over 1.5 years. Put a jumper pack on it and floored it and she roared to life. Only has over 230k miles.

keep the old bike and get nothing. Wait 6 months...it'll be a good financial decision.

unless you NEED a car right now.

LOL, yeah I really do love my Coupe GT. But it's just too damned old and unreliable for a daily driver. I commute 60 miles a day so I need something that will get me there reliably and something that won't need a new part every other week. Last winter it was great, this winter I can't drive it a week without something new to fix. It's wearing me out lol.

Hm, tough decision dude... I would take either one, but STi's are a little expensive. Honestly, I think I would sell the GT, AND the old bike then get a new bike, and keep the A4. The thing I hate about living here in Indiana is the fact that it gets too cold during the winter to ride... that, and it snows sometimes. Otherwise, my bike would be my DD. I'm obsessed with riding, so that's why I would choose a new bike.

My wife DD's the A4 so I need something more reliable than the Coupe GT. Not something boring like a Corolla or a Civic though. Has to be something fun and pretty reliable.

I dont know if you would want to throw this into the equation cause its not NEARLY the same power as an STI, but i just picked up a 2000 Honda Prelude Type SH with 127k on the clock for a lil less than 7K ( I do similar driving as you.. anywhere from 60-80 miles a day average).. not the fastest thing but its got enough power to get out of its own way. Ive had it for a lil over 2 weeks and its pretty fun to drive... plus VTEC YOOO

    sell the '97 and get a 954rr

then buy a '03 s2k. unless you like audi's, then find an old '01 a4 in good condition and keep it that way.

I'm more biased towards 2 wheels even though i'm no longer a part of the brotherhood :(

I was in the same boat as you three months ago. I had my A4 paid off love the car but wanted something else. I was looking into a truck (they where so damn cheap) or buying a bike. Both the truck and the bike where about the same price around 25K but i opted for the bike. I got this

    Re: STi or new motorcycle???

Considering you probably spend a lot more time in the car than on the bike, I'd say STI. It's a quick reliable car that handles well in any condition. It's a year round performer. The STIs are more reliable than the WRXs. Downside is they carry some of the highest insurance rates.

However if you live to ride and your car just fills in when it needs to, buy a nice bike.

Nice bike I ride Harley too for now but I have no choice its blasphemy in my house to speak of anything but Harley.
If I were you I would probably go with the STI unless you really want a new bike because of just practicality. Either choice sounds good though but you never know how reliable a higher mileage car is you have to be careful and make sure all the proper maintenance was done.

Sell the bike and buy a Triumph Daytona 675. 3 cylinder ftw. Then assuming you would spend around 20k on an sti with the leftover 13k buy a b5 a4 and BT it. You will end up spending less than you would on the sti alone and would have both a bike and a car that will give an sti a run for its money. Just my $.02

Seriously though. I don't see the point to a 750, I have one as a track bike. It's slightly faster then a 600, yet doesn't feel torquier due 2 taller gearing. Still gotta wring the piss outta it like a 600. Not a big fan of the 750, a 600 is less insuraunce and slightly cheaper. A liter is a much more streetable torquey ride. I vote GSXR1K and a Spiffy S2000. If snows a factor by you, get a used EVO.
