How to fix a squeaking seat?

Both the driver and passenger seats are squeaking, most noticeably on bumpy roads.

Is this a common issue, and what is the most likely culprit?

The car is not under warranty.

i have never heard of that. what does it sound like
does it sound like plastic on plastic creaking or like a squeaky bearing?

I had squeaking in my drivers seat, and it turned out that one of the three metal clips on the back of the seat that hold the plastic liner (don't know what it is called - it has the webbing for the back seat passenger to put things in) were bent. This caused a squeaking noise anytime that I went over bumps, and once they were straightened everything was good (I bought the car used).

I have a squeak that comes from the back and it drives me crazy. I'm assuming the back seat.

I only get this when the road is not perfectly smooth and I hear it especially on the freeway. I have been unable to (along with my girlfriend) pinpoint where this sound is coming from in the back.

I plan on taking the car in for a service soon. I wonder what they will be able to do (if anything)

i have a squeek too, went to dealer...they lubed everything under the car...went away for a couple days and now it's back....

LMAO. I was seriously going to write a new thread about this.

This so called squeking noise drives me crazy. It only occurs when I go over some sort of bump in the road or like going over railroad tracks.

It sounds like it comes from the backseats. I tried putting my head as far back as I could to try to pin point the location but I haven't had any luck. I feel like having my mom take me for a ride and I feel like sitting in the back and just listen till i can find it. But yeah, that ish drives me crazy. I want to know what it is!!!

Mine comes from the driver side seat up front on the left side. I cut some card board out, spray painted it and shoved it in the crease. That solved that problem, but the drivers side air vent clicks when I make hard turns. We seem to have very noisy cars,... but I just crank the music up anyway. Out of sight, out of mind.

what a pain trying to get these squeeks, rattles out of cars. my last car (04.5 gli jetta) had rattles all over the place....good thing this car isn't as bad but this one squeek is soo annnoying and hard to find. Winter weather and -10 outside doesn't help either, the rattles really come out then when everything is frozen.

HAHAHHA!! I was leavign for one of my classes @ FAU and i was hearing a squeaking noise happen over every bump. So I get a light that i know is longer than others. I pull my e-brake, get out of the car go to the passengers rear door. After I open the door, I start like hammering the overhead panel and the rear seats. Pretty much everything that i could think of with the palm of my hand. I then take pull down the arm rest for the back. Throw it back up, semi slam my door shut. Get in my car, look to my left and it just so happens a cop is starring at me on his gey little motorcycle with his obnoxious boots. I roll up my windows and lol to myself. Light turns green, i go over another bump and NOOOOOOOO NOISE!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and i didn't get pulled over. wutwut!?

Ive gone over this in other forums.. no i wasnt worried lol... and i didnt start the car with 10 mi left on the tank.. it was at 30 i think.. so i didnt worry about hte car starting since it was (either way if it didnt start its garaged and I have other cars) and there are plenty of gas stations around lol but yea it was fucking cold and my car queaked the entire drive ot work

Ive gone over this in other forums.. no i wasnt worried lol... and i didnt start the car with 10 mi left on the tank.. it was at 30 i think.. so i didnt worry about hte car starting since it was (either way if it didnt start its garaged and I have other cars) and there are plenty of gas stations around lol but yea it was fucking cold and my car queaked the entire drive ot work

You shouldn't let your tank fall to under about a quarter of a tank when it gets that cold out. And not just because it might not start, you can do some damage to your internals.
