    smells wild in here

I just finished a pan service for my S4, had to replace the pan gasket because the POS rubber one was leaking. The only way i could get a paper gasket was with a filter, so i ended up changing that too.

anyway, i splurged on some valvoline max-life ATF (the fluid that meets every single transmission requirment known to man except type-F) for the fact that logically it must be at least a semi-synthetic and it was only $17 for 5 litres. But man, this stuff smells like whale oil, that nasty stuff ford adds to LSD differentials, now my garage smells like it. Its certainly not as intrusive as the LSD additive on its own but its enough.

I'm off to do a road test to see if it helped any, i'll let you know how it goes.

Tranny fluid smells awful. I replaced mind recently and it stunk up the garage as well.

this stuff takes it to a whole other level, lol.

Worst smell that you will have a hell of a time getting rid of is carburetor cleaner, its like 80% xylene which is the main ingredient in brake clean (the stuff that does the bulk of the disolving). It works like the cats ass, but it will disolve your nitrate gloves in no time.

I got a can of it in my garage, I only use it in the summer when i can take it outside. If i use it in the garage, the whole house will stink.

    Re: smells wild in here

To make a long story short....I was in my Yukon XL after a snowstorm and I thought I was Rhys Millen so I "drifted" into our parking lot and the truck hit something. It was a f'ing boulder that was covered up with snow!! It sheared the axle right off. The disc brake face and the wheel studs were still attached to the wheel laying off to the side of the truck. I had to buy a new wheel, axle, disc brake, and two quarts of gear oil and we did at at work. The shop still stinks after three weeks. Mind you, the shop is over 3500sq. ft. They HATE me at work. It smells like a bums ass on a hot summer day, allegorically speaking of course.
