    New System

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Finally got the sound system checked off on the list and its a hell of a system lemme tell you.Kicker solo-barics are no joke. the speakers retail over $1k a pair without the box. the speakers are still breaking in but even with the levels down the roof flexs like a wave when the beat hits and the sun visors flap like there ready to fall off. a little brutal for the b6 huh?

    custom enclosure. 2 kicker 15" L7'S

amp rack behind the rear seat.

    Re: New System

the subs can handle 4000w power handling. you really only need one, thats why there called "SOLO"-barics. but i had to go one more step and get 2!

    Re: New System

^^ haha i was thinking that too. Those are some spacious subs. And did you say 4000 watts? That can't be rms... That's gotta be like maxed out to the max of the max haha.

yeah the subs are 1000 watt rms "EACH" and can handle a true 2000 watt max each. not like these other sony's or cheap name brand subs that claim a high output but really cant handle it.

That's pretty good. My friend's system is a rockford fosgate with two 12" 1000 watt rms subs hooked up to a 1600 watt RF amp. He's got a pretty sick flip down deck and he hooked up bluetooth and he added a laptop mount and hook up so he runs his iTunes playlist through his system. Not sure what his cabin speakers are but the system seriously BUMPS like crazy. If you have the resources i really recommend getting the laptop hook up as well. Cause his laptop's sound quality kicks the crap out of his iPod's sound quality through his system. More bass, better overall sound quality, everything just sounds better.

I really don't know, but if you PM me i'll ask him tomorrow and i'll get back to you. Cause it's really sick. You can make the volume go louder with less interior speaker rattle, and same goes for the subs. All the sounds just gets a lot crisper and their capacity increases. It's great. He showed me a side by side comparison since he has an auxiliary iPod hook up as well, not one of those crappy iPod hook ups. I used to have the same set up in my passat for my iPod and it's like 50x better than CD quality. But the laptop beats it.

Yeah be careful buddy, your gonna rattle the audi apart. I had 4 cerwin-vega 15" stroker's running off two 2500watt monoblock competition amps running at 1ohm. It was sooo effin loud man i loved it, but after a few weeks my sunroof broke and wouldnt open anymore as well as my left rear window fell off the track. My rear deck rattled loose and was bouncing into the rear windsheild everytime the subs would hit any low notes, everything seemed to be breaking and falling apart. I know whats up with the solo baric's and im sure they will rattle the Audi apart as well so as words of wisdom dont bump too hard!

    Re: New System

But first off, do you know if your deck is compatible with it? Because i'm not sure if this is a feature his deck comes with but others don't or if all decks should have this compatibility. If so it should simply be a cord hooked up to the back of the deck. And then an output point for the cord so you have access to it. And for ease of operation a convenient, safe, mounting spot for the laptop. But yeah it kicks ass.

x2 on that one. My friends ride is a neon that he fully insulated with Dynamat soundproofing, so he doesn't have to worry with his as much. But yeah things can rattle loose and break for sure.

ohh man have i heard some stories about those cerwin-vegas. i never got to hear them but i heard they do some damage! but like you were saying with the low bass notes, the same thing with my rear deck..it sways up and down several inches and same goes with the rear windows it doesnt help that im cruising around with a competetion bass cd either i guess lol. but yeah i gotta turn these baby's down a knotch before shit starts falling apart lol.

the BIG ass jackhammer. The one and only Jackhammer. The one they put in a car on MTV's pimp my ride that has like 12,000 watts max and 6,000 watts rms from a single 22" sub that weighs 369 lbs and is 23" tall. And most likely the 44 series that's a dual 4 ohm. The craziest sub ever.

HAHA put a couple of those in your car with a Rockford Fosgate T15kW amp!! You'd never be able to fit that in there no matter what you did. Even with an avant and the rear seats removed you'd have trouble haha. But you'd have a 15,000 watt system...

The stock bose woofer is surprising sometimes. I didn't have it turned up at first so i thought it was crappy and useless. Then i messed with the settings and popped a cd in, and it can really get some nice bass going if you get the volume up to like 18 or 19 on a good cd.

But still nothing like what my aftermarket subs will do. I need to get around to putting them in my car. Free some space up in my garage too haha.

Oh and AMESSA4_NJ, i'm talking to my friend right now to see what type of cable it is. But chances are you might have to look up your deck model # and see if it's compatible.

yeah dude, no problem. So i found out how the hook up works. He said it's just a standard male to male RCA cord that runs from the audio jack on the laptop and the other end plugs into a special adapter that came with his deck. So in order to get it to work you'll have to check out what capabilities your deck has, or talk to an audio specialist shop to see what kind of adapter you can get. Maybe they make something universal for your type of application. FYI i'd try to stay away from car toys if you can. You can try but i've always had sub par service there, apart from the free installation.

Sweet deal. i actually just got the a4 back today, i sent it in to get the sound system re tuned since the break in period and they are going to get me the adapter for the laptop hook up. i cant wait. also since these 15's broke in there twice as loud. i feel bad for my b6, its going to fall apart haha.

    Just FYI,
I spend 4 weeks dynomatting the entire interior of the car.
Dash, seats, carpet, roof, everything, i mean EVERYTHING came out.

Haven't had one rattle or squeak for 1.5 -2 years now.

It's worth the effort, time, and money.

You will regret it if you don't do it now.

You will have driving your car later.
