    Big crankcase vacuume leak

Let's try this here since i didnt get any help elswhere. Everyone else must be lost just like me on this one. First off i checked all the hoses, switched my old PCV valve with new and nothing. When i open my oil cap or pull my oil dipstick it sucks air like crazy. Today i took my F hose off and it's sucking air through there like crazy is that normal?

I dont know the 2.7t motor very good but whatever needs to be replaced i can do it. Could bad intake cam follower do this? Im lost at this point and have no clue what else to look at.

Here is a vid i made.

I asked my friend and he said you have a hose hooked up backwards somewhere.

I'll try to get him to look at the video for you.

Yeah, sounds like you have a manifold vacuum line running to your crankcase. Pressurizing your crankcase = BAD IDEA. so you're doing the right thing by keeping it parked until you get it fixed.

Side not for any smart ass comments to come: pressurizing your crankcase is completely different from pressurizing your cylinder.

    Re: Big crankcase vacuume leak

I had mentioned something about it to him briefly and he said "yeah he has a hose backwards"

I THINK I remember him saying something about possibly the brake vacume hose, or something "back there"

Get a schematic, and double check your work.

I believe when i pulled the motor Brake booster hose stayed on and i didnt touch it just unpluged it from the booster but i will double check everything.

I used this diagram to check everything over.

below is a pic when my motor was out.

What else could it be if all the hoses are connected right? Intake followers? Anything internaly. I dont think so but you never know with these cars.

I had my buddy take a look at this post real quick.

    here's what he said

i would be willing to bet a large amount of money that the big "spider " set of crankcase ventilation is on backwards , wrong , or broken.

He also said there's no way it's the cam followers.

Also if you could post up some really close pics of the rear of the motor where the 'spider' crankcase ventilation is he could look at it for you.

there is a check valve on the back of the engine that people replace backwards and causes problems, forgot what one it is.

It's impossible to put the spyder hose backwards on this car. Just look at the pic above and you will see. I will try and get a close pic of the back when i get the car back from the exhaust shop.

I had some time to look at it more and it seems that some hose is hooked to a place where is doesnt belong all the crankcase hoses are in where they should be. Another thing is that turbo hoses might be hooked up wrong causing the vacuume to the manifold and going to the crankcase.

Hmm... Whitch one? I didnt remove any check valves when i removed the manifold i left them on. What's the chance i mixed up one of the turbo lines? How much vacuume do turbos produce anyway? I wish i had access to some nice diagrams of all the hoses that would help alot.

    Re: Big crankcase vacuume leak

Well.... The vacuume was comming from the intake manifold right by the throthle body going to the F hose. I never fixed it i just capped the pipe and the f hose and called it a day. I Pressure tested it and found a check valve to be cracked somehow, i replaced that since but i dont thing that's what caused my problem.

I dont think i should say that i fixed it but i dont have a vacuume leak anymore and the car runs just fine. I can boost 22psi no problem. Before it wouldnt go over 14psi.
