Got bored again... made myself a cup holder adapter.

I hate not being able to order a medium drink at Carl's Jr so I made myself a little adapter

My material of choice is black acetal rod (a.k.a Delrin). I started by measuring the medium cup from Carl's Jr and started to bore out a piece of delrin.



Now in order to make this piece sit snug in the stock cup holder location I had to make the piece fit exact. The stock cup holder has a 2 degree taper to hold in cups securely. I matched this taper exactly.

When two objects have the same taper and mesh together they create a taper lock - so in other words, this piece fits very securely.

The stock cup holder is 1.8" deep, and the adapter 1.7" deep. There is room for two to sit side by side too. Any suggestions?

nice. have you done any benchmark testing as to how fast you can corner with a full, 3/4, or 1/2 full cup? ;)

just kinda skeptical on why you made it the size you made it. im sure if you made the sides a little higher, it would be more secure? not downplaying your idea by any means this looks nice and very well made too...

nice! Now make a sturdy cup holder for the stock spot. I hate not being able to bring drinks into my car from any kind of fast food place. Must be nice to have the tools readily available to do what you want, I can imagine all the shit I would have ha.

Great idea, I can't even fit my stainless coffee mug in my cup holders now. I think you would sell a quite a few of these.
