Pontiac G8/GTO?..

I know a bit about the G8, however the GTO interests me, I think that they are pretty cool looking cars. However I've not heard much on their reliability or "satisfaction" rate. I've actually seen a couple I liked and my local dealer is selling these and the pontaic G8's for cheap as hell. I like both but I dont know much on the GTO..

however word on the street is that a G8 coupe is coming out, LS3 powered, 400hp

G8 4-doors are damn cool too though.

That GTO was a failure in marketing as much as anything else. The nameplate is steeped in too much history, people expected an outrageous goat and were disappointed with a decent but civilized car.

G8 sounds like a pretty good value - I'm glad they (GM) are importing more of their euro/australian models rather than churning out more Oldsmobiles.

Did anybody see last mondays top gear. Hammond was learning to drift in the monaro with a pro formula D drifter. Then the pro hoped in the seat and gave his approval in broken engilsh, "goo car!"

They're are solid cars with more performance options than you can think of. GM small block is damn near bullet proof these days and easy to work on. I would go with the G8 but the only thing that sucks about is the fact that there is no manual. Unless you step up to the GXP, which is $38K. GTO can be had for a lot less man and the platform is pretty stout. As much as Americans are screamin for more quality and cars that compete with foreign competitors from GM, the public totally slept on it.

Drove a G8 GT. LOVED it! Really felt like a simplified M3 with firm suspension.

Go test drive one.. Im considering one for my next daily driver... They are FAST!!! and can be tuned pretty effectively. With some tuning to the engine and trani I've seen some really low 0-60 times (like 4.xx ..)

Pretty much the same car.
I would go for the g8 because I find having 4 doors much more practical. However the seats in the GTO are incredibly comfortable. My good friend has one and they put my a4's seats to shame.

G8!!!.....IMO, the GTO is just like a Camaro....might as well wait for the new Camaro to come out...if it ever does....

I however, really like the G8 GT or the new GXP...I'm planning on getting one in the next year or so.....

I went into the Pontiac Dealer today as I had 2 hours to kill and decided to check out the G8 GT's.

Overall they look like a pretty solid car, but I just could not get over the interior. They had the "upgraded" interior where there was colored inserts in the seats and on the dash, but still wanted an ungoldly ammount of money for it.

There was a 25oo rebate / cash back as long as you could prove that you had a GM vehicle that was 2ooo or newer which was nice and I quailified for, but it still seems like way too much money for what you were really getting.

I did read over on LS2 and LS1Tech that there are alot of guys that are bent due to the very steep depreciation that they are getting with this car as well. There are some that have under 25K miles and are being sold for right about the low 2o's.

Asking on the one that I saw today was at 32K which makes me think that I will look for one used, and let someone else take the hit off the lot. Getting one used might be in my future as overall its a nice ride, plenty of power and with the sunroof makes the interior a bit more roomy.

g8 and gto are both based off the same exact car. i would personaly get the gto. look up on you tube "spintech exhaust gto" . it sounds amazing. if you are going to get a gto, make sure you get an 05 or 06 because the 04 had a 5.7l engine and the 05/06 had a 6.0 and better body styling including hood scoops and dual exhaust.

i'm not big on american styling, but i think the G8's look badass. For a 4-door saloon, they have a really aggressive front fascia, and V-8 torque that makes you burble. I'm not a huge fan of the rear tail-lights, but for everything else you get in this package, it would definitely be something to look at in the market.
