    s4 seats in A4 welding??

So browsed the forum looking to see if there had been any advice on installing some of the S4 recaro seats into an A4. couldn't find much, but i bought the seats for $400, (black leather with white alcantara.) I'm driving myself nuts trying to get them installed. The sliders work just fine, but I am without a way to bolt down the front of the seats. I've been told rivet-nuts are great for adding threads to the pre-drilled holes that line up and everything. In order to install the rivets i need a $150 tool, that I'll use for just this Or else i can have something of similar shape welded in, assuming I can weld well. I know i will have to grind off the old mount from the old seat, but I haven't done that yet, just in case.

So my question is, does anyone know a better way? i guess i can buy that tool, and return it when im done, but that's immoral.
    Thanks!

Go to your local audi dealer and purchase the orginal bolts (4) that secures the s4's two front seats down and then ask for (4) 13mm nuts. you will be buying the 13mm nuts because they are a direct thread for the bolts you will be buying. get yourself a drill and buy a $3 drill bit. drill out the whole in the floor of your car so that you can put the nu that you purchased upside down in the whol." drill the whole so that the nut will just fit". did you do every thing i just said?..... ok good. the next thing you will need to do is go to your nearest muffler shop or find yourself a good welderand tell him to weld around the edge of your nut witch should be seated in the whole you drilled. put in your seats and then secure them with the (4) bolts you purchased from the audi dealer. good luck.

Re: s4 seats in A4 welding??

Well, i may have worded my post a little bit too vaguely, but there is already holes drilled, so that is not at all a problem, And i have found these nuts that fit perfectly into the holes, the issue is having it welded. Welding means stripping out alot of carpeting, because welding is something best done on the outside of the car. but i do know that is one of my options, as i have looked into it with a lot of body shops and welders. there seems to be a liability issue that some of them don't want to deal with. but i have found one. I was just wondering what some of you guys have done in order to install these properly. Anyone have a good/bad experience with rivet-nuts or threaded rivets? some alos call them blind nuts or nut-serts. there's a bagillion names for them.
