    Options for good aftermarket fogs?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Fellas,

I have "bling lights" fogs right now that I wanna get rid of. At first I didn't mind them, as they are a bit big but looked OK. After numerous times of looking back at them I would like to change them out for a reputable foglight, and one that is much smaller and closer to the stock foglight diameter or RS4 fog diameter.

The only catch is that they must accept H3 bulbs, as I just picked up a $30 pair of yellow H3 bulbs that I would like to use. (I believe they are NOKYA).

Thanks in advance, and feel free to post pics.

Yo homie, I have a set of HID fogs. They might be a bit smaller... I think we discussed this a while back. But if you are interested, I will dig them up and we can test them out for ya.

I have some PIAA lights in my s4 fog location, they are kind of oval/oblong so they fit in the stock grille openings almost perfectly and they have a strong yellow tint to them. I got them used from my brother so i dont know the specifics, but if i get a chance to get a model number off of them i will post it up with a pic

Negative, they are supposed to be more white. I was told they are whiter than my old 6k HID's.

    Bumping this up.

I need new fogs! The ones I bought I am finally tired of since they are so big and the passenger side doesn't fit with my fmic pipes.

I'm not even trying to say, "omg 1500 bucks for an RS4 bumper," or "$2500 for two pea shooting turbos." My point lies in the fact that there should be more interest in threads creating interest in alternative options to overpriced oem parts for undervalued cars. I personally think my car is worth $25k, with the nogaro, the suede, and the amount of heads it turns. I won't get more than $15k for it in the classifieds here.

Let's get some ideas for headlight/fog/bumper mesh setups here.

I should also mention, I have OEM RS4 fog grilles for sale, but they are hacked up. I modified the openings to fit big fogs that don't clear my FMIC pipes. I might get the 70mm ones from LLTek, and the "RS" mesh. It will be $260 shipped for all of that, and I might do it. Just wanna see what else is out there, as far as foglights. I'll probably just order the mesh now.

Your FMIC isn't helping things in terms of fog lights, since they are limiting factor. Was going to suggest Hella MicroDE, but they are pretty long (and they use H3).

I know a guy that put a set of Hella 500 fogs on his B5 A4, attached to the hood grille, but, it's probably not what you're looking for aesthetically

I've got plenty of room with the Seidl RS4 bumper now. I can definitely fit smaller fogs, just not the 3" wide ones I was using! The 70mm ones from LLTek seem to fit the bill, but I am looking for something a little cheaper. They want like 165 shipped for those fogs..

I was gonna say, "I never knew TireRack sold foglights," but then I just did a google search, and found them on amazon.com!

    Are these them? http://www.amazon.com/Hella-Micro-Ha...3943352&sr=1-2

They also have these, but I'm assuming they are non-H3 due to the title of the other ones:

Re: Options for good aftermarket fogs?

Yep that's them. I think I'm actually using the H1 Micro De's. You would need to order the H3 ones since that's the bulbs you ordered already. They are very easy to install. They require very minimum modification for installed HIDs.

The bulb fits in fine, but you gotta poke a small hole in the back rubber part to run the plug and play wires out. After I did that, i just put some silicone in the hole to prevent water from entering. The nice thing about them is that they are projector, so they output beam is nice and sharp.

    Bumping this up.

Everything is ordered. HELLA Micro DE's for $130 from amazon.com, and the LLTek mesh for $88.

S4x01: Do you have any pics of how you mounted the fogs to the grilles? I'm sure I will figure it out, but I wouldn't mind seein a few pics of how you did it.

This should look MUCH better than the old setup. Here's the old setup. (Car now has the Cupra R lip spoiler so the FMIC does not hang past the bumper.

Re: Options for good aftermarket fogs?

Heres a close-up pic of the fog light and its housing..

What i did was bolt up the fog light onto the top part of the inner portion of the bumper (where your side mesh is). I also cut a big enough hole in the mesh. Slipped the back end of the fog light through the mesh.

I couldn't figure out a way to make it perfectly flush because there wasn't anywhere to mount the fog light if it went in too deep.

A few options that I am considering with these fogs...
-Making my own bracket to put them a little deeper into the mesh.
-Finding a way to mount them BEHIND the mesh. This way you have a nice clean mesh look, and when the fogs are on, they will still shine through the mesh.

This is kind of a crappy picture, and it was before I readjusted them (you can see they are kind of crooked in the pic)

And in this pic you can see how they stick out just a hair.

You're the man! I will probably just mount them to the bumper like you did, and cut the grille to fit around it, after the fogs are installed, so the fit is 100%. I also have plenty of yellow lamin-x left over so I am gonna yellow the lenses, and coupled with the yellow H3's I have they should look dope.

There's this stuff called "Plastic Weld." I may use this, and just plastic-weld the fogs to the grilles, and mount the grilles to the bumper. I am using it for my existing overly large fogs and it holds them fine, so the Hella's should be no problem. This might look cleaner..

Should have everything by the end of this week. Have a busy valentine's weekend ahead but Monday or Tuesday is my day to get all this done, and I'll get pics up.

    Thanks again man!

sounds like a good idea, i cant wait to see how it comes out. These fogs are probably a lot heavier than the ones you had on. These are made out of a metal. But, im sure they hold up great on the mesh.
