Possible to change rods without pulling the motor?

Just curious if there's enough room to change the rods with the motor in car.

I'm guessing it would just be easier to pull the motor though.

    ha ha..

i think you would spend more time trying to change the rods with the motor in the car then just pulling the motor

also i suggest getting the rotating assembly balanced.

It's doable it would just take alot of time. You would need to drop the engine frame or support whatever you want to call it. Take the front end off, you might at well pull the motor and save yourself alot of time.

Once you have the motor on the engine stand it would take a couple hours if not less to tare the motor down.

Yeah jerk off I know exactly where they are.

If you could pop the pan off and get access to the crank you could in theory do it if you removed the heads.

Obviously it would be easier to pull the motor I was just curious if it was possible.

    Yes possible, but highly unadvised

It's definitely possible but like others said, you'll be removing the front end anyway so it might be easier to pull it.
On the other hand, if I change out my rods I'll prolly be doing it with the motor in the car.

There is no point to change rods in situ. It takes much longer time, and it is difficultier.

The motor pull takes about 4 hours if you know what to do, and then dismantling is easier and faster.

Re: Possible to change rods without pulling the motor?

Yeah, sure. I've seen people at least do half the job (get the rods out) without a motor pull. It doesn't take long either.

    Slow, stock, smurfy blue car.

Relax, I just troll this place for fun.
