Bought my '07 A4 two nights ago.

I take it out tonight. I go to a friends house, then to a resturant. The parking lot was nearly empty because it was like 10pm. I still park away from all cars. I come out. My friend is like "did you get this car with this key mark?"
I'm like "whaaat?!"

Wow guys, i just fuk'n bought it...Why do people tend to feel like they need to KEY A MOTHER F%^$#@# car?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! ARE YOU DUMB?

Thankfully it's only like two feet long. It's the front right fender. I'm not sure if it could be buffed out or not. How much would (let's say) Audi charge me to paint a right fender?

if your dealership is cool since you just got it they might hook you up with some touch up paint...Id try that first, doesnt hurt to ask

You can. But to me it sounds the damage repair would be less than your deductible. In order for my insurance to cover anything, the damage has to be over 500 dollars. Anything under 5 bills, and it's all me. Maybe your deductible is less?

That sucks, i dont have any key marks but i do have a couple of dents from people opening their doors into my car.

touch up paint sucks because even though it painted the mark up, you'll still see the imperfections of the paint.

touch up paint, buff, else your going to have to cough up the money and get it painted again. Sucks though, cause its brand new, sorry to hear about your situation.

I vote that responses on this forum have to be made up of 90% real words. Since our brains are not used to reading a combination of letters, numbers and abbreviations, it actually takes significantly longer to decipher what the above poster posted. Believe it or not, we read by shape, not by putting letters together. Although, it takes less time to type. What do ya'll think?

its especially rough now that there are "pro-american" made people going around trashing euro and japanese cars in support of the failed 3 buy out.

I saw a whole parking lot vandalized like that with "buy usa" keyed into a few of the cars.

they will get theirs! trust me! speaking from experience here.. back in the broke, frustrated, hateful younger days i crossed a new, shiny, bmw and thought i'd key it's door for fun. to make a long story short, i bought my first luxury car yrs later, a new infity. threw 20's on it, it was hott, my baby, my pride. i walk out of church one day and it was keyed from front corner light to the end tail light.. deep key, couldn't buff it out. i immediatelly though of the day i scratched the beemer and regreted it as long as i owned the infinity. soo, the chump will get his and he won't escape the thought of what he did to your car. sorry to hear it, but know pay day is in he's near future and payday is a biotch! hopefully it works out to where you don't need to spend much to repair, good luck.

If the domestic made cars were competitive against the foreign then we would not be in the crunch/bailout that we are in right now.

I was watching an episode of top gear when they were testing out a Ford lightning and the steering wheel blatantly had play in it right off the production line. You would never see that with in an Audi or BMW. Competition is the best for the consumer.

Sorry to thread jack, I do feel your pain. My buddy in college unfortunately got all panels of his black B6 keyed after a night of drunken belligerence.. Turned out that someone took some comment personally.

My hood got keyed like 3 wks ago also, had to get the whole hood repainted. It sux, makes you very angry why someone would wanna do such a thing.

A picture will help us determine what it will cost you, but I almost guarantee it will only cost up to a couple hundred, depending on how deep it is.

Sometimes a good shop can fix it with just touchup paint, and a few coats of clear. But I'd expect to pay $200-300 all said and done. And get it done ASAP, because you know you're going to eventually and you might as well drive around in a pristine Audi while you own it

I'm going to take it to Audi tommorrow. Thankfully, my parent's are decent friends with the pre-owned manager @ champion. Even tho he prolly will charge me, hopefully i can get a half decent price.

Thanks again guys. It's a lot easier talking things out with people that have been their rather then just hear friends of mine tell me to chill out because it's just a car. Even tho it is. None the less, this is the first car that I actually make payments on (without the 'rents helping me out). So the value of the car is so much more. It's not just a car. It's 'my' car.

it was like getting cut and pouring salt on the wound, everytime i drove the car. i hated walking towards it from the driver side.

I park far away from the masses to avoid this whenever I can.. you may wanna follow suit, but then again we drive bright red new Audis; if someone is motivated to scratch your car specifically, they're gonna do it anyway. At least if you're parked out in the open away from other cars, they've gotta be pretty deliberate and walk over/get out of their car and go do it.

If I ever get that "BUY USA" on my hood, I'm going to find them and key "I DID, WITH MY TAXES. NOW GO BANKRUPT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE HAS TO" :P
