Test FIRE. Promise, no CF content, finally.

Got single LED's yesterday. Set up 13 and played with the relay-resistor setup I made.

Here is video of the LED's going from bright to dim. Thanks to Kirk on the LED hook-up. These things are so bright when full on that I couldn't run the video directly on. Had to do it from the side. I can still mess with various resistors once on the car to get the best dimming effect when the headlights come on.

Any DIY-ers out there who want to do this to their LED's... it's a $10 mod.

Re: Test FIRE. Promise, no CF content, finally.

Posting here because, well, they ain't done, and I don't want to start a new thread until they are. Just a test fit of the LED's in the manner I want them. The trim of them is ghetto still.

And to show some of the ghetto trim... It will be overlayed and trimmed up to exact fit.

And finally, link to video of passenger side LED's on in car from different angles.

Lol. Gotta love shuffle play on a songlist. Glad it at least caught that song. Let's just say my musical tastes have a very broad range.

As for the fatty.... I can only imagine what I'd cover in CF if that where the case.

That's a great idea, Lee. I love the look of LEDs.

How come they don't appear to be lined up straight? Is it a depth issue?

Re: Test FIRE. Promise, no CF content, finally.

Not sure I understand. The line of LED's follows right on top of the curve of the bottom trim piece at the point where it becomes ribbed and goes downward.
That is not the same curve as the front portion at the clear housing. It is wider towards center, and not deep at all and the turn signal end.
I'm sitting on it until next weekend and then coming back to it fresh to see if I still like it.

Did you bake the headlights or heat gun them open?

Re: Test FIRE. Promise, no CF content, finally.

Heat gun. These aren't the same housings. I bought real dirt cheap ecodes with a few minor internal problems (plastic tabs broken on turn signals; easily fixed. So, I canabalized the projectors out of my old joey modded US housings (I cut the clear housing off because I knew I wasn't using it again), and used the new housings of the ecodes for this project.
I'm not trying to toot my own horn, because it just comes with doing it a lot, but I can now get the housings part without any bend in the black lip on the top. So, in effect, when looking at the housing with the hood open when the headlight is re-installed, there doesn't appear to be any indication that they were ever separated. I used to bend the top lip and then reform it with the heat gun, but that still showed minor flaws and waves across the top. Not no 'mo.
And these housings will be sealed with.... yep... Plumber's Putty. Because I will need to get them back apart to change LED's if they ever burn out. I've formed a couple tiny clamps out of metal that will hold the housing halves together. They will be placed along the side and bottom so they can't be seen. And the plumber's putty will seal more than adequately.

Any tips on opening up the headlights? It's irritating the shit out of me and I just gave up for tonight.
